The ultimate list of sports bars in Singapore to watch live sports such as F1

Whether it’s football, rugby or boxing you’re into, there’s a bar for you and your friends to enjoy some live sporting action

6. Atmosphere Bistro & Bar

This is a popular spot for birthday parties and baby showers, but it also screens a lot of live sporting events. The casual spot is located at Parkland Green at East Coast Park so you’ll also feel relaxed as you have a drink or meal by the sea – especially if you sit in the al fresco area. There are good beer deals here so if you love a pint – or three – while watching your favourite sport, you can do it here. It’s an especially ideal venue for anyone who lives in the east but you should also check it out if you’re from another end of the island but love chilled-out bars

At 920 East Coast Parkway, #01-25/26/27, Singapore 449875, tel: 6440 9705. Visit atmosphere-bistro.com.sg

7. The Jolly Roger

Neighbourhood bars are awesome casual spots to catch up with family and friends – after all, they’re usually a short walk or drive away and you won’t have to get dressed up to hang out at such bars. The Jolly Roger is one such place and, located in the Hillview area, it has the added charm of being surrounded by lush greenery. The drinks menu is highly impressive, with beers on tap (London Pride, Stella, Hoegaarden, San Miguel and St Austell Ales Tribute Pale Ale), award-winning craft beers (such as Pirate Life, Garage Project, Yeastie Boys and BrewDog), bottled ales, bottled ciders, wines, spirits, and a cocktail list with enticing names such as Flaming Shipwreck and Forbidden Paradise. They screen football, rugby, F1 and other sports, and there’s a pool table too, if you want to while away your time before the big game/race starts.

At 15 Chu Lin Road, Singapore 669907, tel: 6468 2344. Visit www.jollyrogerbars.com

There are McGettigan’s pubs in several countries such as Indonesia, England, Ireland and the UAE (Dubai and Abu Dhabi). The Singapore outlet has a prime spot at Clarke Quay and is a hot favourite when it comes to watching live sports with friends. Irish hospitality, delicious food, and a healthy dose of sports and entertainment make this a bar one you’ll be returning to a lot after your first visit. The late bites menu (served from 10pm to 1am) is what you’ll be reaching for while watching your favourite team on the big screen at night. Choose from items such as Fish & Chips, Pork Belly Popcorn, Chicken Satay, and Beef Chili to calm your nerves or to celebrate.

At 3A River Valley Road, Merchant’s Court, Singapore 179020, tel: 6837 0577. Visit http://www.mcgettigans.com/singapore/

9. Al Capone’s

Despite its name, you don’t actually have to be a member of the mafia to have a good time at this place. A sports bar that serves Italian food, Al Capone’s is a hidden gem in the Sports Hub area. It’s especially popular with football fans so if you love the EPL or any European football league/championships, you might want to meet your friends here. There are good deals on drinks and, mixed with the relaxed atmosphere, it’s no surprise that sports fans let their hair down and let their passion and loyalties show when they’re watching a game here.

At 1 Stadium Place, #01-15 Kallang Wave Mall, Singapore 397628, tel: 6282 5926. Visit www.facebook.com/alcaponeskallang/

10. Bar Bar Black Sheep

It’s known as ‘Singapore’s Original Coffeeshop Bar’ and Bar Bar Black Sheep’s relaxed setting has been attracting customers for more than 12 years now. The original outlet at Bukit Timah Road/Cherry Avenue still pulls in its loyal clientele but it now has three other bars too – at Robertson Quay, Kent Ridge and Cluny Courtyard (the Cluny and Bukit Timah outlets are especially popular with live sports fans). Choose from three cuisines (sorta like a coffeeshop, see?) – North Indian, Thai and Western – then sit back and relax with your chosen company. There are several craft beers to try here, as well as well-known beer brands such as Asahi, Stella Artois and Carlsberg, plus there are frequent drink specials too.

Various outlets, check website for details.
