“Where to go on NYE, ah?”

If you find yourself hounding your friends with that question these days, you’re not alone. There are a million and one fab events geared up to welcome 2016, and the herworldPLUS team has compiled the best into this list. Tell your friends about it and take your pick!

1. 1919 Waterboat House
Nestled in the heart of Marina Bay, 1919 Waterboat House oozes historic charm by day and transforms into a laid-back party venue by night. The rooftop bar is a spacious balcony directly facing the Singapore’s skyline, so you get front-row seats to the famous Marina Bay countdown fireworks. While waiting for the sky to erupt in a million colours, take a sip of ice-cold mojito and groove to the restaurant’s live band, which will play from 10pm until the next year – or at least, the first few hours of 2016.

Where: 1919 Waterboat House, 3 Fullerton Road, Singapore 049215
When: 6.30pm until late
Admission: $80 per person, inclusive of one drink
Info: Email hello@nineteen-nineteen.com or visit this website

2. Catalunya
If you want your last meal of 2015 to be a spectacular one, come on down to Catalunya, which has long been feted as one of Singapore’s best Spanish restaurants.

Delicious food aside, another big perk about dining at Catalunya’s is its fantastic location. The restaurant is situated in a floating dome at Marina Bay complete with an observation deck, so you can enjoy an unobstructed view of the countdown fireworks while listening to resident DJ Heffny play the greatest hits of 2015. Sounds nice, no?

Where: 82 Collyer Quay, 049327
When: 10pm until 6am
Admission: $98 per person, inclusive of a glass of champagne
Info: Email rsvp@catalunya.sg or visit this website

3. CÉ LA VI
There’s no fancier way to welcome 2016 than a New Year’s party at Cè La Vi’s SkyBar (previously known as Ku Te Da). Yes, everything about the place screams FANCY and I wouldn’t expect anything less from a bar at Marina Bay Sands.

Being as ‘atas’ as it is, not just any young punk will be able to gain entry to the bar. This means that you can sip on champagne without any slobbering drunk dudes creeping up to you for your number. Let’s cheers to that, ladies.

And because Cè La Vi is located 57 levels above ground, you won’t be aiming your camera upwards to take a picture of the fireworks because they will be exploding right in front of your eyes. DJs Joshua P, Deepak, Anand and Brendon P will also keep the party going well into the first morning of 2016.

Where: 1 Bayfront Ave, 018971
When: 9pm until late
Admission: $98 per person, inclusive of a glass of champagne
Info: Call 6688 7688 or visit this website

4. Zouk
All Zouk devotees will know that Singapore’s Best Club can be counted on for a smashing night out. The space will be decked out with infinity mirrors, candy floss trees and aerialists on swings to resemble the fantastical world of Peter Pan’s Neverland.

Other than good music and good vibes, one big reason to celebrate NYE at Zouk is to savour the club’s final countdown party at Jiak Kim Street before it moves to Clarke Quay. Wait, what? Yep, Zouk Singapore was bought over by Genting Hong Kong some time ago, and I believe that the club’s relocation to Clarke Quay is just one of the many changes about to take place. It makes me sad because I personally think that Zouk is perfect the way it is!

Resident DJs Lincey and Hong will be teaming up to get everyone up and jumping on the dance floor. One thing’s for sure, you’ll leave with memories of a wild night out and perhaps a twinge of nostalgia and fondness for Zouk @ Jiak Kim Street.

Where: Zouk, 17 Jiak Kim Street
When: 10pm until late
Admission: $40 per person, inclusive of two drinks
Info: Visit this website

5. Zafferano
Located on the 43rd floor of the Ocean Financial Centre, Zafferano is yet another restaurant with a brilliant view. Start the last night of 2015 right with a five-course meal of contemporary Italian cuisine before continuing the celebrations with DJ MalcomX at the sophisticated outdoor Terrace Lounge, which I fell in love with at first sight.

Other than being a real beauty, Zafferano’s Terrace Lounge is the one place you’ll get to enjoy the panoramic view of Marina Waterfront without having your perfectly-styled hair ruined by the wind, thanks to its tall glass walls.

Where: Ocean Financial Centre Level 43, 10 Collyer Quay, Singapore 049315
When: 9pm until late
Entry fee: $68++ per person
Info: Call 6509 1488 or visit this website

6. Sleepless Society
Relive your favourite sleepover memories at the newest countdown party in town: a pyjama party organised by Malaysian events company The Livescape Group. Expect down pillows and LED beanbags to lounge around on.

There will be no snoozing at this party, though, as superstar Dutch DJ Afrojack will work his magic on the turntables. Joining him is fellow Dutch DJ Apster, German DJ Miss Nine and Singapore-based EDM duo Rave Republic.

Where: Level 4, Suntec City Convention Centre, 1 Raffles Boulevard
When: 7pm until late
Admission: From $118 per person (excludes booking fee)
Info: Visit this website

7. Pan Pacific
Every girl dreams of a fairytale romance, but how about a fairytale NYE? Pan Pacific Hotel has pulled out all stops to decorate their main Atrium with fairies, mermaids, witches and other folklore characters for their fairytale-themed party.

The fun doesn’t stop at the decorations – a DJ will spin popular hits to keep you grooving alongside dancers dressed up as fairies, mermaids and witches’ costumes. For maximum fun, combine Halloween and NYE into one big celebration by turning up dressed up as a fairytale character, too!

To start off 2016 on a really brilliant note, I recommend booking one of Pan Pacific’s marvellous rooms for a staycation. You’ll probably be too pooped from the celebrations to survive the MRT ride home anyway, and who wants to squeeze in with the ridiculous NYE crowds? Not us, definitely.

Where: 7 Raffles Blvd, 039595
When: 8pm until 3am
Admission: $98 per person, inclusive of a 200ml bottle of Laurent-Perrier NV Champagne
Info: Call 6826 8240 or email celebrate.sin@panpacific.com

8. Artistry
If rowdy countdown parties aren’t your thing, make a trip down to Artistry cafe, where brunch will be served from dusk to dawn. Bring your closest group of friends for a night of laughter and reminisce, you won’t feel like you’re missing out on the fun at all!

The cafe’s signature brunch staples, including its BRB (blueberry, ricotta and bacon) Pancake ($16) and potato hash with scrambled eggs ($20), will be available. If you prefer local cuisine, the Artistry chilli crab burger ($25) is available too.

Drinking to the new year takes on a whole different meaning with one of Artistry’s creative cocktails ($15 each) with a local twist, such as the pandan mojito or rum chendol.

Where: 17 Jalan Pinang
When: 10pm until 6am
Admission: Free
Info: Call 6298-2420 or visit this website

9. Sentosa
Still suffering from post-ZoukOut syndrome? Get your bikinis out and head down to the Siloso Beach Party for 12 hours of non-stop partying (hopefully it doesn’t rain this time!)

Headlining the neon-themed party is Dutch DJ and producer Don Diablo, who is a crowd favourite at mega dance festivals Tomorrowland and Ultra Music Festival. Personally, I would attend the party just to hear him play live because he is that good.

He will be joined by Singapore DJs Electrokat, Inquisitive, Eclipse and Caden, who happens to be the winner of the Sentosa DJ Spin-Off 2015. To top things off, partygoers will be invited to write down their resolutions and wishes for 2016, which will be released in a shower of new year blessings.

Where: Siloso Beach, Sentosa Island
When: 6pm until 6am
Admission: $55 for purchase by Dec 26; $65 after Dec 26, inclusive of one drink
Info: Visit this website

10. Maggie Joan’s
A back alley off Gemmill Lane will be transformed into a venue for a hip street party on New Year’s Eve, co-organised by chic Mediterranean restaurants Maggie Joan’s and Moosehead Kitchen & Bar. Adding to the underground vibe will be a DJ dropping urban beats until the wee hours of the morning.

There will be free flow of champagne, wine and beer plus a mouthwatering spread of Mediterranean bites and a barbecue meat feast to keep the glutton and alcoholic in you beaming.

Where: Maggie Joan’s Dining & Bar, 01-01, 110 Amoy Street (entrance from Gemmill Lane)

Stuff your face in a sliders at a rare Singaporean eating contest and boogie to tunes spun by DJ Tyler Made at newly-opened American diner-bar OverEasy Orchard’s first new year bash. Dieters, stay away.

When the clock strikes 12, the neon-lit eatery will have its own version of the infamous annual ball drop in New York’s Times Square.
