From The Straits Times    |

It’s the alcoholic event of the year that no self-professed cocktail fiend would dare miss. Buy an all-access pass (from $38), and you get to enjoy signature cocktails at $14++ at 30 bars around town, receive a 10% discount at over 20 alcohol workshops, and be amongst the few in Singapore to mingle with and sample the craft of 10 internationally renowned mixologists at pop-up bars and cocktail tours.

The biggest draw of the pass for most of us, naturally, is the discounted prices on cocktails. But before you go to town on all the cocktails that are available for your sampling (at least 150 in total!) and do your waistline an injustice, we’ve picked just five of our personal favourites and recommended must-haves. You’re welcome.

#1 Spontaneity from The Tippling Club (38 Tanjong Pagar Road)

The Hendrick’s Gin-based tropical tipple is deceptively potent, with the sweetness of the Velvet Falernum syrup and tangy lime masking the alcohol yet delicately maintaining the well-rounded flavour profile.

#2 Chocolate Mint Vanilla from Operation Dagger (7 Ann Siang Hill)

The delicious concoction from the newly-crowned Best New Bar (at last weekend’s Singapore Bar Awards) is a veritable dessert in a cup. So good you won’t want to stop at just one.

#3 Good Ole Fashioned Revolution from Nutmeg & Clove (17 Ann Siang Hill)

Our favourite of the lot, the Good Ole Fashioned Revolution is a play on the classic Old Fashioned, spruced up to “taste just like nasi lemak”. The pandan leaf adds a lovely fragrance and taste to the otherwise smoky drink for a tipple that’s at once potent and easy to drink.

#4 Huat@Tess from Tess Bar & Kitchen (38 Seah Street)

In the mood for something that’s thoughtful yet straightforward? Fancy glass aside (isn’t so pretty though?), the Huat@Tess is a no-frills, no-nonsense tequila-based cocktail with lime juice, pineapple with chili syrup, egg white, salt and pepper. Smooth, simple and delicious.

#5 Georgetown Special from Hopscotch (#01-04, Red Dot Traffic Building, 28 Maxwell Road)

This cocktail takes its inspiration from the fiery Assam Laksa from Penang, and has all the spice, depth and shiokness of the dish, plus the potency of a great, well-mixed cocktail. It’s a double win.
