It’s that time of year again. Netflix is bringing back one of its most talked-about and highly rated reality series, and yes, it’s Single’s Inferno. Returning for its fifth season, Single’s Inferno sticks to its winning formula: a group of impossibly good-looking singles from South Korea are stranded on an island, all in the hopes of finding true love or, at the very least, a romantic connection. Over the years, the series has gained massive global popularity and consistently ranks as one of Netflix’s top variety shows, and from the looks of it, this new season might be even bigger than the last.

Single’s Inferno Season 5 trailer

Judging by its hot and steamy trailer, things are definitely heating up this time around. In fact, the trailer has already sparked some controversy since its release, with many viewers criticising how provocative the show appears to be based on the preview alone.

And honestly, from what we’ve seen so far, from emotional heartbreaks even if they’ve only just met, to intense and flirtatious moments behind closed doors, we’re already fully invested in this year’s cast.

Release date

Set to premiere on Netflix in Singapore on 20 January, the new season introduces another lineup of incredibly attractive singles. And given some of the iconic personalities from past seasons (hello Dex and Yuk Jun seo), we’re excited to see what’s in store this time. With that said, if you’re curious to know who the contestants are this season, you’re in the right place. Just like in our previous editions, we’ve rounded up all the Single’s Inferno Season 5 contestants and where you can follow them on Instagram.

Jo I-geon (1992)

Netflix’s Single’s Inferno has welcomed new gamechangers to the lineup to shake things up on Inferno, and one of them is Jo I-geon. The contestant wasted no time making an impression, quickly jumping into action with one-on-one dates with the girls on the island before inviting two of them to Paradise.

During his Paradise date with Kim Go-eun (whom he shares mutual connections with in real life), Jo I-geon revealed that he’s an actor. He previously appeared in Netflix’s The Trunk, playing Yoon Ji-oh alongside K-drama heavyweights Gong Yoo and Seo Hyun-jin.

In his introduction, he also shared that he’s never been the one to make the first move. Instead, other people have always made moves on him. As for what he considers his biggest appeal, Jo I-geon pointed to his physique (and sexiness), and honestly, you can tell.

Lee Ha-eun (2003)

The guys were quick to remember Lee Ha-eun after going on dates with her in episode 5. As one of the new gamechangers on the show, Lee Ha-eun shared that her favourite feature about herself is her bunny-like eyes, which she feels are her most standout trait.

During her dates, she also made it clear that she always tries to figure out who the “funny man” is among the group. It is a small detail, but it shows that she is not only drawn to good looks, but also someone who can make her laugh and has a sense of humour.

Later in the show, viewers found out that Lee Ha-eun was previously a hip-hop dancer. Today, she works as a model in the beauty industry, where she helps different brands promote their products, including skincare.

Choi Mina Sue (1999)

Could Mina Sue Choi be this season’s Nadine Lee? Born in Sydney, Australia, the 26-year-old moved back to South Korea at a young age and is currently studying at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in the United States. She made history in 2022 when she was crowned Miss Earth, marking the first time South Korea ever won the title. And from the looks of her Instagram, she comes across as refreshingly down-to-earth and relatable.

Lee Joo-young (2000)

Confident to the core, she says she’s been popular for as long as she can remember. Back in school, she was dubbed one of the “three goddesses” and yes, rumours say a fight once even broke out in the restroom because of her. But beyond the attention, she comes across as bright and bubbly, with people often describing her as both capable and sharp. Add those adorable dimples into the mix, and it’s easy to see why she quickly becomes a popular pick among the male contestants on the show.

On top of that, she majored in furniture design and is now a professional craft artist. She mainly creates vases and currently has an active exhibition in South Korea showcasing her work.

Lim Su-bin (2002)

Lim Su Bin is often told he looks more mature than his age suggests. A natural athlete, he enjoys swimming and playing baseball in his free time and is quietly confident when it comes to sports. Some might even say he bears a resemblance to Song Joong Ki.

He spent 10 years as a baseball player, previously playing as a pitcher, before a shoulder injury forced him to step away from the sport. Currently, he works as a model, where he does a lot of commercial advertisements.

Lee Sung-hun (Samuel Lee) (1998)

Lee Sung Hun currently lives in New York City and is looking for someone with cat-like features, as well as a genuinely kind and sincere personality. When it comes to attraction, he values affection, success, and an unexpected side that keeps things interesting. Having lived in the United States, he speaks fluent English, which adds to his easy confidence and global appeal on the show.

In the show, it was later revealed that Lee Sung-hun previously worked as an AI engineer at Google. He also holds a degree in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics, and now works on teaching mathematical algorithms to computers to buy and sell stocks.

Youn Hyun-jae (1999)

The very first contestant we meet in Single’s Inferno Season 5 and what an entrance. Hyun-jae immediately stands out with his broad shoulders and sculpted abs. In his intro, he shared that his ideal type is “a youthful, sweet and genuine woman.” He’s clearly someone who takes fitness seriously and thrives on competition; when it comes to physical games, he’s confident he’ll come out on top.

Hyun-jae graduated from Chung-Ang University in Seoul, South Korea, where he specialised in Sports Business. Prior to his appearance on Single’s Inferno, he was the first runner-up at Mister International Korea 2024. He currently works at an IT company, where he models and designs user interfaces for apps and websites.

Song Seung-il (2001)

Another fiercely competitive player, Seung-il made it clear from the get-go that losing isn’t something he takes lightly, so much so that he admitted he wouldn’t even be able to sleep if he did. He also described himself as someone who isn’t easily swayed or emotionally hooked, but when he does set his sights on someone, he usually gets what he wants.

Despite his age, he comes across as strikingly mature, perhaps thanks to his day job. Working in marketing at a fashion marketing agency, he’s responsible for growing business processes, managing advertising budgets, meeting clients, and consulting brands.

Park Hee-sun (2003)

Often compared to rhythmic gymnast Son Yeon-jae, Park Hee-sun brings both grace and energy to the island. She describes herself as highly proactive, the kind of person you can count on to take charge and make things happen. She loves dancing and being in the spotlight, which explains her cheerleading days in middle school and high school. And yes, she knows she’s good-looking: she has high self-esteem and openly shared that she gets approached by men all the time, practically every few steps.

But it doesn’t end there — she has the brains, too. She holds a degree in Information Systems and Fine Arts from Carnegie Mellon University and was the runner-up at Miss Korea 2024. Now, Hee-sun works as an intern in customer relationship management at a global cosmetics brand, where she analyses customer data and develops marketing strategies.

Shin Hyeon-woo (1997)

Pure aura, honestly. Hyeon-woo carries himself with quiet confidence and has an impressive physique to match. Interestingly, despite his strong build, he apparently gets called “cute” by older women — though, as he jokes, that might just be an assumption since they don’t actually say it to his face.

While he was in Paradise, it was revealed that he had previously been an athlete but transitioned into coaching after injuring his shoulder. He now trains an elite team of handball players.

Kim Go-eun (2000)

Aside from her work as a model, Kim Go-eun first rose to wider public attention when she was crowned second runner-up at the Miss Korea beauty pageant in 2022. She also previously sparked dating rumours with G-Dragon after the pair were spotted together at a football match in Osaka, Japan. However, his agency was quick to shut down the speculation, stating that “She is merely a dongsaeng [younger friend or sibling] that he knows, and their social circles simply overlap.”

In her Single’s Inferno intro, she described herself as having a “cat-like appearance but a puppy-like personality.” She walks in with poise and can initially come across as a little aloof, but she insists that she’s actually warm and affectionate once you get to know her.

Go-eun previously graduated from Inha Technical College in Airline Cabin Service and she also secured a spot as a finalist in Miss Korea 2022. As for her current job, she revealed that she works as a model for a few beauty and fashion brands.

Kim Jae-jin (1998)

Kim Jae-jin is a bit of a refreshing change from the rest of the line-up. Instead of flexing his looks, he says what makes him attractive are his affectionate and humorous sides. On the surface, he gives off that cool, icy demeanour but according to him, he’s actually quite warm once you get past that first impression.

In the show, he revealed that he majored in contemporary dance and is a professional dancer who also teaches dance lessons.

Ham Ye-jin (1996)

At first glance, Ham Ye-jin comes across as quiet and a little shy, but she insists that she can actually be really quirky, open and affectionate once she’s comfortable. Interestingly, she says she’s never really had to flirt with a guy — all she needs to do is make eye contact, and they’ll start talking to her. From her Instagram, she appears to be working as a freelance announcer for a South Korean TV network.

Woo Sung-min (1996)

Woo Sung-min comes across as the kind of guy who’s in it for the long haul. In his intro, he shared that he’s not really into fiery, passionate romances, instead, he prefers something calmer and more comfortable, almost like a friendship that naturally grows over time. That said, he candidly admitted that he’s never actually been asked out before, but he wouldn’t hesitate to make the first move himself.

Kim Min-ji (or Kim Min-gee) (1996)

She’s a runner, she’s a track star, and she’s none other than Kim Min-ji. While her striking visuals might catch your eye at first glance, there’s definitely more to her than just a pretty face. At 29, she has already built up an impressive resume and is no stranger to being in front of the camera. Prior to Single’s Inferno Season 5, she appeared on shows such as SBS’s Goalies, TV Chosun’s Survival King: Tribe Wars, and the popular variety programme Knowing Bros.

Unlike some of the other contestants we’re used to seeing on the show, Kim Min-ji’s Instagram clearly showcases her athletic side, with posts from various competitions she has taken part in. It’s a refreshing change for viewers who appreciate women who are not only beautiful, but genuinely sporty and driven as well.
