Where to find perfectly soft and moist muffins in Singapore
Here’s where you can get your fix of the best sweet or savoury muffins for any occasion, even breakfast
By Rachel Eva Lim and Michelle Lee -
Be it for breakfast, an afternoon snack or a post-dinner treat, these scrumptious muffins from Singapore’s beloved bakeries are sure to whet your appetite.
Although often outshined by the likes of doughnuts and cupcakes, the humble muffin is an equally delicious treat that shouldn’t be overlooked.
The history of the muffin can be traced back to the 10th century, when it purportedly first emerged in Wales. It is said to have made its stateside debut in the 19th century, when an English baker who moved to the United States apparently started churning them out from a shop in New York.
You’ll find many bakeries dishing out muffins in Singapore: from hawker stalls to artisanal operations to home-based businesses. Check out these locations for scrumptious muffins in various textures and flavours, including classic chocolate, fragrant coconut and fruity berry.
AJ Delights
These wallet-friendly bakes (from $2.75) draw snaking queues at Alexandra Village Food Centre, filled with hungry diners waiting to get their hands on the popular muffins. In June last year, it also opened a second outlet at Fusionopolis Connexis.
The bakery is helmed by a couple of former home bakers who make their wares fresh each morning. Top flavours include the moist and decadent Dark Chocolate; Blueberry Streusel, Apple Streusel and Green Tea Monster, which has matcha incorporated in the batter. AJ Delights is halal-certified.
AJ Delights is at 120 Bukit Merah Lane 1, #01-82, Singapore 150120, +65 8821 2157, and Fusionopolis Connexis B1-22. Visit its website for more information.
Butter & Cream Bakery
Butter & Cream Bakery first started with a stall at Lau Pa Sat, and has since expanded its business, with eight outlets including at Seng Kang Square, Amk Hub, Jurong Point, Waterpoint and Causeway Point.
The bakery churns out a variety of bakes, of which egg tarts and muffins are its most popular offerings. It also has what it has coined a ‘doffin’ — that’s a muffin and a doughnut hybrid.
The muffins have garnered a legion of fans for their moist, fluffy and soft texture, and come in flavours like Blueberry, Apple, and Double Chocolate. For a savoury option, try the Volcano Cheese Muffin. The best part — they’re all affordably priced, from $2.60.

Doughter Bakery
Mochi muffins, anyone? These confections are home-based business Doughter Bakery’s calling card, and are perfect for those who prefer their muffins to have a chewier texture. There’s the Double Chocolate with a crunchy top and fluffy interior; the Matcha & White Chocolate that boasts an earthy, bittersweet undertone; the Banana Walnut made with real bananas – you won’t find any artificial flavouring here – toasted walnuts and a thin layer of crumble for some extra crunch; and, our personal favourite, the Kaya & Coconut that’s infused with a fragrant kaya jam and dusted with toasted coconut flakes.
From $20 for a box of six. Visit its Instagram page to order or for more information.
Uggli Muffins
When it comes to food, we prioritise taste over looks. That’s certainly the case at Uggli Muffins, which has recently returned after a hiatus.
Here, the bakes come in asymmetrical and haphazard shapes that don’t exactly conform to the conventional muffin aesthetic. But given how delicious they are, we doubt anyone would care. We also love them for their crusty and slightly charred surfaces, which provide a lovely textural contrast. You can select from a range of rotating flavours including chocolate, Oreo, banana walnut and cranberry.

Dome Bakery
Dome Bakery’s dark fudgy brownies oozing with various fillings are its stars, but the Dark Chocolate Lava Muffins are equally noteworthy. Loved for their moist, buttery consistency and slightly crisp top, bite into one and you’ll find a dark chocolate molten centre, with additional chocolate chips on top for double the indulgence.
$20 for four. Dome Bakery is at 227 South Bridge Road #01-01 Singapore 058776. Order here.
Baker’s Well
Founded in 2004, Baker’s Well has been keeping Easties well-fed with its great range of baked treats since opening its doors. The muffins have a crusty top and soft and spongy interior, and they don’t skimp on the chocolate chips, blueberries and other ingredients. We like the moist chocolate banana muffin; the white chocolate chip muffin for a twist on the classic flavour; and the mixed fruit muffin, which is ideal for those who can’t make up their mind on which fruit-based option to go for.

Plain Vanilla
Sure, their brand may be synonymous with cupcakes, but Plain Vanilla is also where you’ll find some stellar muffins that make for a satisfying breakfast (though it’s not like we’ve never had a cupcake first thing in the morning). You can sample the Blueberry Lemon Muffin, which is packed with fresh blueberries and a dollop of lemon curd; or select the Raspberry Dark Chocolate Muffin that features colourful ripples of raspberry compote and hefty chunks of dark chocolate. Both come with a sugar-crusted top.
Plain Vanilla has multiple outlets in Singapore, including Tiong Bahru, Cluny Court, East Coast and Ion Orchard. Visit its website for more information.
Famous Amos
Famous Amos might be known for its cookies, but its muffins are also worth sinking your teeth into. The large, dense muffins come in various flavours, from Double Chocolate Chip for a decadent treat, to Blueberry, Rocky Road and Mixed Fruits.
$14.50 for a box of four. Order here. Famous Amos also has multiple outlets, including Plaza Singapura, Wisma Atria, Nex, Amk Hub, Parkway Parade and Jem.
Ah Tas Muffins
Opened in 2021, Ah Tas Muffins has been the go-to muffin joint for those in the north-east. With their name a play on the Malay word “atas”, which means elegant in Singlish, they promise only the highest standards for their muffins. As such, they only use ingredients from specific suppliers, like butter from Denmark, milk from Germany, and sugar from Mauritius. Choose from 15 flavours including Matcha Walnut, savoury Triple Cheese, and the classic Chocolate Chip.

Pretty Good Muffins
Starting from just $1.40 for their Almond or Cranberry muffin, Pretty Good Muffins offers a wide variety of muffin flavours, over 18 to be exact, for a pretty good price. Give their Banana Walnut a try if you’re looking for a light afternoon snack or sink your teeth into their more indulgent options like the Biscoff or Chocolate Kaya. If munching on their muffins leaves you quenched, they also have matcha lattes and cold brew teas on offer.
