Where to find crispy and juicy birria tacos in Singapore
Whether you’re craving chicken, beef or lamb birria tacos, these joints will hit the spot every time
By Anis Nabilah Azlee -
Just like jacket potatoes, birria tacos, a beloved Mexican street delicacy, were the food of the moment at this year’s Ramadan bazaars.
For the uninitiated (though we doubt you haven’t heard of them), birria is a savoury meat stew made with a melange of spices. When the slow-cooked meat that’s been braised in this broth is shredded and added to a toasted tortilla with cheese and other accoutrements, you get delicious birria tacos.
Tender, crispy, and oh so flavourful, birria tacos are best enjoyed straight off the grill and dunked in the consommé the meat was cooked in.
If you can’t get enough of them, here are the top places to get your birria taco fix in Singapore, even long after the bazaars have packed up.
1. Lavi Taco
While birria tacos are traditionally made with lamb, Lavi Taco’s Signature Birria switches it up with slow-cooked oxtail and brisket, which have been braised to perfection in their spicy and aromatic birria stew.
But for those who still prefer their tacos with lamb, fret not. This establishment also serves up Masala Lamb Birria, a fusion twist on the Mexican dish, which is cooked with their special masala curry birria broth.
The best part about dining in at Lavi Taco is that they charge nett pricing, which means no GST or service charge will be added, so you can dine in peace without worrying about your wallet.
Although not halal-certified, Lavi Taco uses ingredients sourced from halal suppliers and do not use pork, lard or alcohol in their dishes.
