Aerin’s Café and Espresso Bar’s New Menu
With the recent revamp of Raffles City Shopping Centre’s Marketplace, Aerin’s features new lush garden surroundings at its prime spot beside the iconic water fountain in the basement. Try their array of Small Plates ($6.50 each) spanning across multiple international cuisines, such as Panko Crabcakes, Tuscan Bruschetta, Peppercorn Tuna, Lamb Shish Kebab and Norwegian Smoked Salmon with Dill Mascarpone. Other additions to the menu include the Pumpkin Salad ($11), a mix of roasted butternut pumpkin, bacon, dates and marinated feta, plus dessert creations like Churros and Chocolate ($9) and the Rum and Raisin Affogato ($7.50).

Midnight Shift: Stop, Look & Listen
Midnight Shift’s first year anniversary party is one not to miss – Stereolab and Stereolounge will be taken over by local DJs Jonathan Yeo, Xhin, Edward, Kaya, Funk Bast*rd and Ko Flow, and a mystery guest from Detroit will be hitting the decks as well, playing House and Techno.

Digital Nights at SAM
Visual and digital arts will be combined in this lighting spectacular featuring interactive displays by four European artists and collectives, Bertrand Planes, Miguel Chevalier, Lab[au] and Visual System, as well as artwork by Singaporean artists like Vincent Leow. The indoor and outdoor art exhibit consists of new media and digital arts such as video installations, kinetic and light sculptures.

Mber at Heat Ultralounge
Catch Mber playing jazz and modern pop hits at the Heat Ultralounge, Royal Plaza on Scotts nightly (except Sundays). The 3-piece band features Carolyn Gomez on vocals, Eric Du on piano and Elijah Tan on bass, but they’ve been known to switch roles occasionally, with Carolyn and Eric teaming up on the piano and Elijah playing the drums and guitar. Grab 1-for-1 drinks all night long, plus a second free drink from 5-8pm everyday.
Mber performs 8.30pm-12.15am on Monday-Thursday, and 9pm-1.45am on Fridays and Saturdays.

The Golden Cangue

The cangue is a heavy wooden collar donned by criminals and condemned people in ancient China, and in Cao Qiqiao’s case, her cangue is her marriage – a constant punishment for a decision made and regretted. Watch adaptations of early 20th century feminist author Eileen Zhang Ailing’s Story of the Golden Cangue and Rouge of the North in this revamped Peking Opera.

Mid-Autumn Festival
The Mid-Autumn Festival, or Mooncake Festival, has many origins – as a celebration of good harvests, and as a commemoration of the legendary Chang’e, goddess of the moon. Visit Chinatown to witness its transformation into a mass of endless lights, lanterns, stage shows and bazaars. Light a candle for your paper lantern and join in the mass lantern walk on 18 September, or eat your fill of Chinese traditional treats such as mooncakes, pomelos, candy and Chinese tea at the street bazaar. There will also be nightly stage shows featuring the majestic dragon dancers.
