I put these lululemon bags to the test and here’s my honest verdict

lululemon’s bag game is seriously underrated. Here’s an honest, tried-and-tested breakdown of some of the most popular styles from the brand so you know what’s worth splurging on

When it comes to tights and sports bras, lululemon is often the first name that comes to mind. They’re beloved for their Nulu fabric that feels buttery smooth to the touch, and their cuts that fit like a glove. But what many people don’t know is that the brand also makes some of the most thoughtfully designed bags I’ve come across in years.

And I don’t just mean their crossbody slings or totes. Over the years, I’ve found myself reaching for a lululemon bag no matter the occasion: crossbody slings for errand days, amusement parks, or music festivals; totes for days when I’m too lazy to plan what to bring to the office; and backpacks — hands-down my favourite pieces — for full days that swing from office to gym, or for travelling. Whatever’s on the agenda, there’s a lululemon bag built for it.

So if you’re wondering which pieces are actually worth investing in, you’ve come to the right place. Here’s my breakdown of the lululemon bags I’ve tried, and how they rate.

  1. 1. 1L Everywhere Belt Bag, $62, lululemon
  2. 2. Curved Crossbody Bag, $128, lululemon
  3. 3. 2-in-1 Travel Duffle Backpack, $328, lululemon
  4. 4. Wanderlust Backpack, $238, lululemon
  5. 5. Wanderlust Convertible Backpack 3L, $138, lululemon
  6. 6. Daily Multi-Pocket Zip-Top Tote Bag 18L, $158, lululemon

You’ve probably seen this iconic belt bag everywhere, usually in red. It comes in a few sizes, and I got the smallest — perfect for when you just want to carry your keys, cardholder, lip balm, and phone. If you need to bring more, like a portable charger, go for the 2L version instead.

Inside, there are multiple mesh compartments to help you stay organised, plus a zip pocket at the back that’s easy to access on the go — great for cards, tickets, or keys. My favourite detail is the buckle strap: you can unclip it easily instead of squeezing the bag over your head, then buckle it right back on. That means you can wear it snug against your body without ever having to wrestle it off.

This is my go-to for park days or music festivals. The main compartment clasps open and shut, and even without a zip, it feels secure. There’s a buckle strap that makes it quick to put on and take off, plus a zip pocket at the back for your loose items — cards, keys, coins — so you’re not fumbling around for them.

The best part: side zips fit a full water bottle, held in place with an elastic loop so it won’t slip out. I’ve carried this to Rainforest Wild Asia here in Singapore, and even to Tomorrowland in Belgium, and being able to bring my own bottle wherever I went kept me hydrated without having to lug it separately. So convenient.

One thing to note — I got the cream colourway, and it does pick up dirt fairly easily. A bit of soap and water or micellar water usually sorts it out, but if you’d rather not deal with that, go for a darker shade instead.

For frequent travellers like me, this is my cabin luggage of choice. It’s huge — I can fit two laptops and still have room for 3–4 days’ worth of clothes, my headphones, and chargers. It’s genuinely changed how I pack.

True to its name, it converts between a duffel and a backpack — just tuck the backpack straps away when you want to carry it as a duffel. I usually keep mine as a backpack, but it’s nice to have the option. The material is sturdy and water-resistant, a big plus for travel days, and there are side compartments plus a mesh pocket inside to keep loose items organised.

My pick for gym days. This bag is decked out with compartments — side pockets for your bottle, a flap for hair ties, and a secret zip compartment at the back that genuinely surprised me the first time I found it. There’s enough room inside to fit a 13-inch laptop, or a shoe bag if you’d rather go hands-free. The silver front buckles give it a slightly more polished look, and a drawstring cinches everything together neatly.

A great option for events or hikes. It looks like a small mini backpack — which, frankly, is hard to come by these days — but the adjustable straps let you wear it crossbody, on the shoulder, or as a backpack. I love pieces that pull double (or triple) duty, since you get more mileage out of them across different looks. And despite its size, it’s roomy enough for a tumbler or small water bottle.

This one’s a no-frills workhorse. It’s tough, spacious enough to fit a 16-inch laptop, and perfect for lazy days when you just want to chuck everything in and head to the office or gym. Like most lululemon bags, it comes with thoughtfully designed compartments, so you’ll never lose track of your things.
