Of all the many gifts the Internet Age has bestowed upon us, one of the most game changing would definitely be Youtube and its host of fitness channels – why pay thousands for an expensive gym membership (that honestly, you never fully utilize anyway) when you could get just as fit in the privacy and convenience of your own home? Plus, with so many different types of workouts available, you’ll never get bored. Whether you’re a new to the world of fitness or a long-time enthusiast, challenge your limits with these 5 Youtube channels.

Five Parks Yoga

Best for: All forms of yoga

Highlight: Clear instructions between transitions with various modifications

Hosted by Erin Sampson, Five Parks Yoga offers free online yoga classes ranging from Yin, Vinyasa, Power and deep stretch Flows that last anywhere between 10 minutes to hour long classes. What we like about this channel is that there is a practice for everyone, whether you’re looking for a 15-minute restorative stretch to soothe sore muscles after a workout, or challenging flows that incorporate weights. If you’re a total beginner, no worries, as Erin has a series of introductory videos to guide you along some of the more common poses you’ll find in her longer classes, such as the chaturanga, crow, warrior(s) and even headstands.

We recommend: Standing Yoga Basics Class for beginners and 45 Minute Power Vinyasa Flow Class for more advanced yogis.

Best for: HIIT (high intensity interval training)

Highlight: Simultaneous beginner and advanced modifications so you can easily switch between both

HIIT is a training technique that has made waves in the fitness industry over the last few years, touted for its increased muscle and endurance building and fat loss benefits without requiring you to spend too much time working out. Typically performed in under 30 minutes, HIIT work outs are structured such that you go all-out through quick, intense bursts of exercises, followed by short recovery periods. The best part is, you don’t even need weights to reap these benefits: just a little grit! We love HasFit’s channel for their wide range of HIIT workouts, ranging from bodyweight-only to cardio-based to strength-based. Whether you choose to do a quick 20 minute HIIT tabata workout during lunch hour or 40 minute dumbbells workout after work, the husband and wife duo have got you covered, providing both beginner and advanced modifications. They also offer spot training videos – think brutal abs, arms or legs only videos to complement your cardio routines.

(HIIT workouts usually require at least a 48-hour recovery window as you’ve put your body through so much stress, so be careful not to overdo it.)

We recommend: 30 Minute Low Impact Cardio Workout for beginners and 30 Minute Spartan Warrior HIIT Workout for well, Spartans.

Fitness Blender

Best for: Strength training

Highlight: Workout progress bar with calorie burn info, and loads of low-impact videos

With over 4.4 million Youtube subscribers, you can sure these guys are doing something right. Hosted by husband and wife duo Daniel and Kelli, this incredibly comprehensive channel offers just about everything. Think Pilates, Yoga, HIIT, strength training and cardio routines, and even healthy recipes – you have no excuse to not get fit. Their strength-training videos are particularly popular (especially their ‘People Who Get Bored Easily’ series), and whether you choose to use weights or just your bodyweight, work your entire body, arms or legs to very clearly explained routines. We love that their videos are filmed without music, perfect for those who are picky about their work out music or prefer to get fit in silence. If you are unsure where to begin, check out their 5-day challenges – it’s basically like having a personal trainer! Oh and don’t worry, all videos come with beginner and advanced modifications, with clear instructions guiding you through the routine.

We recommend: Total Body Strength Training and Core workout for beginners and 40 Minute Fat Blasting Total Body Strength Training and Toning workout for advanced warriors.

Just take one look at those incredibly toned abs and arms and you’ll be a TRX convert in no time! Whether you’re looking for a cardio workout to get your heart rate pumping, or a core intensive routine for 6-pack abs, this channel has got it. What we like about this channel are the incredibly easy-to-follow moves that are shown with both low and high impact modifications, meaning you workout only as hard as you want. In fact, she even has a series that’s just for pregnant women (she’s pretty far along in those videos so it’s definitely safe). If you’re constantly traveling, the TRX is a great way to keep in shape without worrying too much about space (you don’t need much) or how well equipped your hotel’s gym is.
