We’re constantly bombarded by beauty products that promise to give us radiant skin and it’s often difficult to choose which ones we should buy. Perhaps we should look west when looking after our skin as traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has a range of herbs that have been used successfully by women over generations. 1. Chinese Wolfberries

Also known as goji berries (considered a superfood by the Western world these days), these berries are very high in antioxidants, which have anti-aging effects. TCM also believes that they nourish your yin and improve blood circulation, therefore resulting in younger-looking skin. They also protect skin against the sun and keep collagen and elastin fibres in shape. 

2. Ginseng

It’s no surprise that ginseng is a common ingredient in skincare products – especially moisturisers – as it has anti-aging properties. This is because ginseng boosts collagen in your skin, therefore making your skin firmer and thus reducing wrinkles at the same time too. It also makes your skin brighter and more youthful. 

3. Gingko Biloba

It’s best known as a helpful aid in improving memory but gingko biloba is also very useful in fighting skin aging. It’s able to fight free radicals and therefore slow down the skin aging process. It keeps your skin tight and slows down the appearance of age spots and wrinkles. 

4. Green Tea

Whether you’re drinking a few cups of this tea daily or using it as an ingredient in your face mask, it’s going to benefit your skin. Being high in antioxidants, it helps to improve the tone of your skin and improves elasticity too. Plus it also flushes out toxins, reduces inflammation and heals scars. It’s also especially good for the skin around your eyes as it shrinks blood vessels under the area around your eyes, thus reducing dark circles and puffy eyes.
