I am always curious about the makeup and hair styles brides-to-be plan to have for their big day.
Most girls I have spoken to prefer a pretty and pink makeup palette, and have their hair styled in an up-do. For months before the big day, they will try and grow out their hair to an appropriate length for chignons and French twists.
I find that strange because most of these brides-to-be wear their locks long and loose on a day-to-day basis - a look that they admit they look best in. So why would these brides opt to have a hairstyle they don't look good in for their wedding day? Because that's what their bridal stylist recommends, because that's what most local brides spot for their wedding.
Note: Not every girl looks best with her locks pulled back or twirled in a stylish bun. To look your best, simply stick to the style that you are comfortable with, accentuates your features best and helps create a soft, romantic look.

When Jade Seah got married, she stuck to her usual look - hair down with a fringe - as it suited her features best. She grew out her locks so she could have long loose curls resembling soft cascading waves that framed her features.
It was a look that worked well with her dreamy wedding dress and sparkling tasselled evening gown. For variety, she wore a sheer veil for the ceremony in the day, and switched to a tiara for the evening reception. It was elegant, feminine and quite romantic.
Here are some reasons and tips for brides planning to have their hair down:
- Long hair helps lengthen and narrow wide faces and stocky necks. If you have a short neck, fluid locks along the neck gives the illusion of length and adds softer lines to your features.
- Having your hair down is always feminine and subtly sexy. Parted at the side, the look is graceful and elegant, but youthful at the same time.
- Shoulder-length hair looks perfect with long veils. Styled beautifully, a veil will fall gracefully over your wavy locks, creating a beautiful long silhouette from top to toe.
- Wavy curls help soften bare shoulders. It's perfect if you love that strapless dress but worry that your shoulders seem too fleshy or bony; that's where loose locks help cover your flaws naturally.
- If you want to have different looks for your day and night celebrations, have radically different hairstyles. Even with the same makeup, having your hair down for the day, and up (with loose strands) for the night will give you two pretty looks without any fuss.
