The accidental discovery

Pain and gain 

The day after my 30th birthday, I had really painful stomach cramps and all I wanted to do was to go home. This, of course, foiled his proposal plan! Instead, he proposed in the most unromantic place ever - the car park of a mall! I had cold sweat from the cramps and had just sat in the car when he got down on one knee and proposed. Not-so-grand plan

Justin described the proposal as "quirky yet strangely romantic". He waited for me to fall asleep before slipping the engagement ring on my finger. According to Justin, he was expecting me to be speechless and in tears upon seeing the ring in the morning. Late-night proposal

Anders proposed via Whatsapp. I was awakened by the ding of the text alert and an image of champagne, flowers and a ring box on his table along with five lit candles. In my grogginess, I thought it looked like a prayer or deathly wedding ritual, and laughed till I went back to sleep - without saying yes! Poor guy. He must have felt terrible. I finally Whatsapped my acceptance in the morning." Chew Sin Huey 

Floral flop

"His initial proposal plan actually fell through, as the field of yellow canola flowers in Seopjikoji, Jeju, Korea (where we were vacationing), had turned brown. Meanwhile, I had been running around taking pictures, and had asked why he looked so bored and upset! He later proposed to me that night at our Airbnb, and wrote me a long letter that made me cry." - Anthea Zhou
