After showing off her love for her longtime boyfriend, British director Tom Ackerley on her Instagram page and in her cover interview in Vogue’s June 2016 issue, Margot Robbie is finally married to the love of her life!
The couple first met on the set of the World War Two drama Suite Francaise in 2013, where Tom was the assistant director.
While the couple have kept their relationship largely out of the public eye, eagle-eyed fans speculated that they were already married when Margot was spotted at the Gold Coast airport in early December 2016, wearing a T-shirt that read: “Say ‘I Do’ Down Under”.
The actress has also teased her engagement and hush-hush nuptials when she was spotted wearing a stunning pink cushion-cut halo diamond ring on her ring finger during the Los Angeles premiere of her movie, The Legend of Tarzan in June 2016.
So far, no photos of the wedding have surfaced, but according to E! News, a couple of Instagram posts from the couple’s siblings have revealed that they may have gotten married at Harvest Newrybar, a popular wedding venue in Byron Bay. Other reports (including this one from the Daily Mail) suggest that the couple may have tied the knot at the nearby Ewingsdale instead.
According to Australian magazine Woman’s Day, Tom wanted to marry in his native UK, but didn’t protest when it was clear that marrying in Margot’s native Australia was important to her. The actress also wore her mother’s 30-year-old off-shoulder Oscar de la Renta dress (source) when she married her beau, and was spotted with a stunning diamond pear-shaped ring with an eternity wedding band.
More details that were revealed in the Daily Telegraph included Margot’s mother giving her away at the altar, and her sister serving as maid of honour. Margot and Tom were also rumoured to have written their own vows at the ceremony.
