Real life fairytale: Guy sews dress for Beauty and the Beast proposal

In this era of modern romance, this story is as good as it gets if you’re looking for a good old-fashion fairytale.

Imgur user Jel2930, Joel Lynch, sewed Belle’s yellow ballgown from Beauty and the Beast from scratch as part of his surprise proposal for his girlfriend, Cara, who, as he shared in his Imgur post, “grew up admiring Belle from Beauty and the Beast”.

With that in mind, Joel set out to recreate the famous ballroom scene to coincide with his proposal.

Armed with no prior experience in sewing and “coffee. Lots of coffee”, his caffeinated nights paid off as the gown fitted perfectly on Cara who understandably broke out in tears upon seeing the dress. We would too!

With Cara wearing the dress Joel so painstakingly and lovingly sewn, he went down on his knees and Cara got proposed to by the love of her life in her dream dress. And that was just the start.  The happy couple then shared a romantic dance together in the periodical room of Iowa State University’s library to the soundtrack of Beauty and the Beast, “Tale as Old as Time” – a scene that seems to be taken right out of the fairytale.

It was a definitely a moment to remember for the couple with “lights, music, library, dress, ring”, and with Joel ending off his sharing with how he “couldn’t ask for more”.

Beast or not, we are all in awe of the efforts and thoughts placed into his proposal. Props to you Joel!
