Their wedding took place at London's Westminster Abbey on Nov. 20, 1947, just two years after World War Two and was celebrated by the nation amid an austere post-war climate.

The royal couple went on to have four children – Charles, Anne, Andrew and Edward.

Having first met when they were teenagers, they eventually married when Elizabeth was a 25-year-old princess, with the both of them deeply in love with each other.

Congratulations to both for this tremendous milestone in their marriage!
