How did you meet?
Ayron is from Singapore while I’m from Jakarta. We met in 2015 at a work event in Jakarta, and immediately hit it off. I was 22 at the time and marriage wasn’t even on my mind.
We started with a long-distance relationship and, as we learnt to understand each other’s culture and customs, we found ourselves even more in love.
What was your proposal like?
He proposed during our Christmas holiday in Hong Kong last year.
We were enjoying a romantic dinner with fantastic views from the restaurant that’s on the 38th floor. He pushed his chair back and got down on one knee.
I was so surprised that it took a while for me to realise that Ayron had just asked me to marry him. Of course, I accepted!
Share with us your wedding theme and celebration!
We wanted a destination wedding that was intimate and relaxing. Bali was an easy choice. It’s where we had our first holiday together, so it’ll always be a special place to us.
We chose the beautiful Sakala Resort Bali in Nusa Dua for our simple and meaningful solemnisation, and poolside dinner with ocean views.
How did you decide on your gowns?
My wedding gown was made by Indonesian designer Debby Hardinata, who worked her magic to bring my ideas to life.
One of my favourites was a cape with embroidery and pearls that truly elevated my look for our night-time festivities.
What were some of the highlights?
There were many highlights on our special day. Ayron’s best man from Singapore gave a speech in bahasa Indonesia, which he had painstakingly practised just for the occasion. I also cried during my bridesmaids’ speeches.
Our first dance together as man and wife was another highlight. We picked up dancing from our friends who own Our First Dance by KYZX in Singapore.
It taught us about teamwork and trust, and we were so glad when guests told us how impressed they were with our performance.
Another memorable moment was when Ayron and some of our friends jumped into the pool towards the end of our after-party. Everyone had a great time!
How did you feel after the wedding?
Planning our wedding wasn’t easy, but we made sure to divvy up tasks according to our strengths, and met in the middle on things we couldn’t agree on.
Going through it together made us stronger and we both agreed that we’d done our best, and were so relieved that everything went well.
