1. Paper or lace umbrellas
These add a dainty, feminine charm overall, look oh-so-lovely in photos, and help shield you and your guests from the relentless sun if you’re having your reception outdoors. (See also: whimsical and unique wedding theme ideas)

2. Balloons
A balloon-filled ceiling is always welcome in our book. It’s whimsical and easy to customise according to your colour palette.

3. Flower vessels
A twist to regular hanging lightbulbs or centrepieces, have clear bubbles or baskets filled with your favourite plants for a rustic, hippie vibe. Do note though, that your plants should be hardy enough, as you’ll need greens that don’t need watering often.

4. Star light, star bright
Add magic to the overall atmosphere with rows and rows of twinkling stars. Keep your colour palette to a maximum of two to three colours for a modern, chic look. (See also: decor tips for more impact at your wedding)

5. Lightbulbs
Light up your venue with these old-school lightbulbs. The best part really: such lightbulbs are easy to obtain, and are usually inexpensive.

6. Paper lanterns and pompoms
These transform your venue into a fluffy paradise filled with all sorts of pretty. It’s been a few years since these popped up on our radar, and they don’t seem to be going away anytime soon. (See also: how tulle can create a beautiful wedding celebration)
