Hipster, rustic, or boho wedding decor are a hit with brides. The dresses? Not as much. There are a variety of reasons, but I’m guessing the top one is, they don’t make you feel as glamorous enough as the boho look has always been slightly more casual than formal wedding gowns.

Here’s the good news: There are ways to get around it with modern wedding dresses and accessories. Here are our suggestions:

1. Colour me beautiful

With the right colour, even a modern, form-fitting gown can look boho-inspired. Think pale and vintage-inspired hues like blush pink and dove grey.

2. Keep it simple

There’s a certain minimalist aesthetic that comes with boho brides. Wedding dresses like these ones from Jenny Packham, Monique Lhuillier, Kelly Faetanini and Reem Acra, which make beautiful and floaty column gowns are perfect

3. Up the romance

Glitter or bejewelled embellishments can really transform a dress. For instance Denise Keller’s beautiful strapless Monique Lhuillier gown looked romantic and elegant, with just a touch of old-school, which we love.

4. Swish ‘n swirl

Another dress detail you shouldn’t overlook: tassels, which can really play up the theme. Just see Jade Seah’s beautiful grey dress she wore to her dinner reception at Chijmes. Imagine it in white as a wedding dress! Flirty and pretty!.

5. The headband

From floral crowns to beaded head bands, the headband is one of the accessories that’ll complete your bridal ensemble.
