Beijing-born Guo, 52, is one of, if not the most notable Chinese couturiers to date (thanks to the global recognition that came with the pop singer sporting her yellow cape), and is known for her extravagant and almost-theatrical couture aesthetic - think rich embroideries, floral appliqués and ornate embellishments.

She will be showcasing 29 of her most iconic embroidered masterworks, alongside 20 Chinese art masterpieces from the Asian Civilisations Museum's collection, in an exhibition called Guo Pei: Chinese Art & Couture that opens from 15 June.

And it also includes traditional Chinese wedding outfits that, in fact, drew inspiration by artworks in the Singapore National Collection.

Among them is a kua, inspired by one of ACM's collection of Peranakan bridal outfits during a travelling show on Peranakan art at the Musée du quai Branly in Paris.
