The comparisons are hilarious, but what really matters here?

When popular YouTube channel Night Owl Cinematics’ released its latest film, "Dating VS Married", the different (but somewhat accurate) perspectives between two couples reduced us to a heap of helpless laughter and tears. Here, our top tips from the video:

1. Your priorities will change

When you’re in a relationship, nothing else matters but one another and the here and now. After all, unless you’ve taken on shared responsibilities on things like pets or housing, like married couples do, everything else on your mind can take a back seat when you’re out on dates.

2. Keep the romance alive

Once you’re married, you tend to find yourselves trying less hard to impress, especially when you’ve been together for a long time. Now, this isn’t representative of all married couples, but take it from us: romance still matters, and it shouldn’t die out once you’ve tied the knot.

3. Manage expectations

Before you’ve sealed the deal, you will want to offer your partner your best side all the time (see point two). Post-wedding, it may not happen as often. While you don’t have to keep up with big gestures of affection with flowers, little things like words of appreciation and affirmation, or appreciating or taking notice of the things he or she has done, are easy to do, and help contribute to a happy marriage.

4. Don’t take one another for granted

This is easy to do, especially now that you see each other every day. Well, don’t. It’s not going to help your relationship, and you both may feel dissatisfied in the long run. Instead, try to remember (or do up) a list of things you both love about one another frequently.

All that said and done, there are many quirks in every marriage we’re sure you’ll remember and look back fondly upon, whether you’re the couple who’re big on romantic gestures, or show your affection for one another in (ahem) less obvious ways.
