Is Vanness Wu dating an actress who is 17 years younger?

Vanness Wu, who was previously married to Singaporean socialite Arissa Cheo from 2013 to 2018, is making headlines again as rumours swirl about his romantic involvement with actress Yu Shu Xin, who is 17 years his junior. 

Yu Shu Xin, 27, gained popularity through her role in the Chinese drama, Love Between Fairy and Devil. While neither party has confirmed the dating speculations, netizens on Weibo have been buzzing with four reasons that fuel their suspicions.

Similar overseas itinerary

On multiple occasions, the two coincidentally found themselves in the same cities, leading to speculations of a secret rendezvous.

Eagle-eyed netizens have pointed out that both Vanness, 44, and Shu Xin were in Los Angeles together. Shu Xin posted social media updates on Apr 11 and 12 which revealed her location, while Vanness was seen hanging out with his family in Los Angeles around the same time. 

And then again in early May, Vanness posted about flying to Beijing. Guess who else was in Beijing, hanging out with her friends too? That’s right - Shu Xin.

Finally, on May 21, there were Instagram updates of Vanness with his friends in Hong Kong. Around the same time, Shu Xin was spotted on the streets of Hong Kong. 

A star necklace

During a live broadcast on May 28, Vanness sported a star necklace. Why is this of significance? Because Shu Xin has a habit of referring to herself as a star and using star-related captions on her social media posts. Netizens couldn’t help but wonder if the necklace carries some sort of secret symbolism for their alleged relationship.

Overlapping social circles

It is not uncommon for people in the same social circles to have mutual friends, but Weibo users seem to think that there is more to this. Vanness and Shu Xin’s mutual friends include Wang Si Cong, son of business magnate Wan Jian Lin, and singer Liu Yu Xin. Perhaps one of them could have introduced the two? 

The colour purple 

Lastly, both Vanness Wu and Yu Shu Xin have expressed their fondness for the colour purple. On May 20 - which is colloquially known as “I love you” day in China because the number 520 sounds like “I love you” in Chinese - Shu Xin posted a photo of herself in a purple dress with the caption, “happy 520”. This led netizens to believe that there was more to the cryptic post. 

Of course, these are all mere speculations from netizens who seem to have an abundance of free time on their hands. It is important to remember that coincidences can occur, and some of these theories may be a stretch. Until official confirmation is provided, it remains unclear whether Vanness Wu and Yu Shu Xin are in a relationship.
