The last thing you want when someone visits your home space is to point out that they have the same piece of furniture or lamp (we’re looking at you, Ikea). Mass produced interior pieces are fab for the price and ease of purchase, but there’s nothing better than an original, timeless item that you can show off knowing it’s unique to your home.

Plus, if you’re buying something second-hand, you know it comes with a backstory which adds to its overall appeal.

To vamp up your home with cool vintage and quirky second-hand items, check out the below best stores that can offer you pre-loved items still in excellent condition and at a reasonable price too.

1. Lorgan’s The Retro Store

For vintage and cool retro pieces, you might want to head to Lorgan’s. They have a strong selection (anyone wants a full standing jukebox?) of awesome pieces from the mid-century, particularly focused on pop art and retro, along with Scandi modern designs.

They feature timeless furniture that are in fantastic condition too. From international designers to pieces that are unique, Lorgan’s is bound to have something you’d fall in love with.

At 29 Ubi Road 4, #04-00, Wangi Industrial Building, Singapore 408619. Tel: 9455 0133. Open daily 10.30am-6.30pm. Visit

2. Mad About Vintage

Head over to their website and you’ll realise how much people adore the pieces stocked by Mad About Vintage — most of the pieces are sold out.

Started by a vintage lover who left the corporate world to pursue this passion full time, you’ll often find items here that you simply can’t source elsewhere, such as an Art Deco (authentic) circular mirror wooden dresser.

To avoid any disappointment, the brand owner has even created a reservation online section where you can reserve first before heading down to check out your future pieces in real life.

At Extra Space, 7 Kaki Bukit Road 2, opposite the Ubi Driving Centre. Unit 1-6009. Tel: 9155 1337. By appointment only. Visit

3. Second Charm

Second Charm specialises in vintage furniture with a strong lead from the Scandi and retro movements. If you love minimalist pieces, this is the shop for you.

They showcase re-issued and custom-made pieces for both your home and working space, delivering a great customisation service in which you can request pieces to be changed to fit a particular space.

They’re also keen on upcycling old pieces and restoring antique pieces, such as transforming old spider web sewing machine legs into a marble top table.

You can even choose which colour legs you would like for the sewing machine table, which is another great aspect of this store: Pieces can be amended in both colours and fabrics, as chosen by their customers.

At Blk 21 Kallang Avenue #05-165, Mapletree Industrial Building, 339412. Tel: 6294 2919 Open Tue-Sat 11am-5pm, Sun 12pm-5pm. Visit

4. Hock Siong & Co.

Hope your house is not as cluttered as mine! ‍♀️

Starting way back in the 1970’s, this family-run furniture company is well known in Singapore for their pre-owned and second-hand furniture – with used hotel furniture as their specialty.

You can expect to find anything and everything, from glassware, silverware, lights and art work to bedroom, lounge and kitchen furniture.

Basically, you’re sure to find something that you adore when you step inside. Head over to their Facebook page to take a look for yourself and what lies in store — excuse the pun.

At 153 Kampong Ampat, #01-03 Junjie Industrial Building, Singapore 368326. Tel: 6281 8338. Open daily 9.30am-5.50pm. Visit

5. The Past Perfect Collection

This was set up in 2007 after the owners spent some time living and immersing themselves in India’s rich culture. If you can imagine the beautiful collaboration from the Portuguese, Dutch and British era within India, you’ll know how stylish these items are.

Majority of the pieces are wood, save the bone china accessories and tableware, with a heavy influence of Indian Colonial furniture pieces. On their website, every item is dated along with a hefty description so you can work out what you’re after before visiting.

Unlike other sites they showcase the price of each item too, which alleviates any sticker shock.

At 896 Dunearn Road, 02-01D Sime Darby Centre, Singapore 589472. Tel: 6737 3078.  Open Tue-Sat 10am-6pm, Sun 11am-5pm.Visit

6. The GoDown

This brand was started by an interior designer, Audrey, as she often struggled to find unique and vintage pieces to finish off her interior designs. Historically “godowns” were warehouse spaces in East Asia from 19th century onwards designed for the loading and unloading of international goods. This was the inspiration behind the brand: All pieces are accessible to Singaporeans and travellers alike and can be viewed in a large open warehouse space.

Whilst the store does stock vintage pieces, it also houses more modern furnishings and newer items — as long as they’re unique and not mass created. This means you can find treasures ranging from a vintage Portuguese wood planer and a vintage tape measure to modern day air diffusers. Expect to find bedroom, living room and kitchen furniture, quirky accessories and much more.

At Claymore Connect, 442 Orchard Road, #01-11, Singapore 238879. Tel: 6333 8966. Open daily 11am-7pm (except Sat 9am-5pm). Visit
