In the heart of Singapore's bustling cityscape lies a haven of sophistication and charm: Pullman Singapore Hill Street. Nestled amidst cultural landmarks, business districts, and vibrant shopping destinations, this hotel, located a stone’s throw away from City Hall MRT, offers travellers an exquisite blend of luxury and convenience.
Having recently opened in the last quarter of 2023, Pullman Singapore Hill Street is the second hotel in the country after Pullman Singapore Orchard.
Inspired by the opulence of 19th-century railroad travel, Pullman Singapore Hill Street pays homage to Pullman's legacy of introducing luxury to train journeys. Designed by AP Architects, the hotel features a distinctive U-shaped structure housing 350 Art Nouveau-inspired rooms and suites. Positioned strategically, these accommodations provide guests with diverse vistas, ranging from the verdant scenery of Fort Canning Park to the majestic views of Marina Bay.
Amidst the proliferation of new hotels in Singapore, this hotel definitely stood out for its distinctive theme, piquing my curiosity. Eager to explore its offerings, I embarked on a brief 2-day, 1-night stay to fully immerse myself in the hotel's ambience and amenities.
Pullman Singapore Hill Street offers a wide range of hotel rooms for you to choose from, and during my stay, I checked into the Executive Room – located on the higher floors – which offered a beautiful panoramic view of the Marina Bay skyline.
Of course, the view wasn’t the only thing I was impressed with. The room itself was fitted with sleek fixtures, rich wood panels, floor-to-ceiling windows and not to mention a king-sized bed that was so comfortable, waking up became a challenge.
What I really liked about the room is also that it came with a GROHE tap which features a Blue Pure filter – providing clean and refreshing drinking water without the need to boil it.
The room's automated curtains effortlessly draw closed, while the air conditioning system intelligently switches off when you leave the room, offering intuitive functionality and energy conservation.
The hotel features innovative spaces, including versatile lounges designed for both work and leisure, along with two swimming pools for guests to enjoy. The first pool, situated on the third floor, offers ample space and includes cabanas for relaxation. The second pool is located at the hotel's rooftop bar, El Chido, providing guests with stunning city views while they unwind.
For those staying in the Executive rooms and all suites, you’ll also get to enjoy access to the hotel’s Executive Lounge – a private space where you can enjoy complimentary breakfast, evening drinks with canapes, and refreshments throughout the day
Personally, my favourite part of the hotel would be the 24-hour gym, located right beside the pool on the third floor. Based on my experience, it’s safe to say that this gym is by far one of the biggest ones I’ve seen across Singapore. Aside from the standard Smith machines and racks of weights, you also have an outdoor area equipped with a free-standing punching bag, sleds, medicine balls and TRX suspension trainers. But if you’re still new to working out, you’ll be glad to know that the hotel also offers one-on-one personal training services that you can book as well.
My stay at Pullman Singapore Hill Street was also a gastronomic journey like no other. With three dining concepts housed under one roof, I didn’t have to worry about going hungry.
If you’re looking to indulge in some American cuisines, hop over to Madison’s. Located on the ground floor, the restaurant offers a modern twist on classic American cuisine. From hearty breakfast spreads to comforting burgers and sandwiches the restaurant provides the perfect option for a quick recharge, complete with homemade pastries and artisanal coffees or teas.
Next up, El Chido. Perched atop the hotel, the rooftop bar is the perfect place for you to sit back, relax and get that tan of yours. Of course, I ordered a few mocktails from the bar along with some churros while I enjoyed the views overlooking Marina Bay Sands. On other days, the rooftop bar also doubles up as a hotspot for evening poolside parties, so you can expect a roster of DJs on deck duties with smooth tropical tunes to groove the night away.
Last but not least: MOGĀ, a modern Japanese Izakaya meets speakeasy bar, hidden on the ground floor of the hotel. While it wasn’t my first time at the bar, it was nice to visit it when it’s less crowded. For the unacquainted, here you’ll find Japanese-inspired cocktails like the Wasabi Smash and Crystal Sake Royale, along with other Japanese spirits, including sake, shochu, gin, and whisky. I would say it’s a great place to grab a nightcap. Moreover, it’s conveniently located within the hotel so you can head back to your room and hit the sheets right after.
Pullman Singapore Hill Street enjoys a prime location adjacent to Funan and close to numerous landmarks such as the National Gallery, CHIJMES, Raffles City, and The Capitol, among others. Whether by foot or train, navigating around town is effortless, adding to the convenience of exploring the vibrant surroundings. With such accessibility, there's an abundance of activities to partake in and I personally found myself fully engaged in exploring and strolling around the area during my leisure time.
Besides, whether you're embarking on a quick getaway or indulging in a relaxing staycation, going to Pullman Singapore Hill Street is hassle-free and convenient.
