Things to do in Singapore this week: 27 July to 2 August

The first weekend of August is shaping up to be a busy one. While National Day festivities are kicking into high gear, there’s plenty more happening around the island. Think heritage runs, creative markets, fitness festivals and fan conventions, alongside the usual lineup of food, shopping and live entertainment. Whether you’re in the mood to celebrate SG61 or simply make the most of the weekend, here are the best things to do this week.  

Legally Blonde – The Musical (29 July to 16 August)

Bend and snap your way to the theatre because Legally Blonde – The Musical is back in Singapore with a fresh new production by Singapore Repertory Theatre. Based on the beloved film, the award-winning musical follows Elle Woods as she swaps fashion for law school, proving she’s far more than meets the eye.

Expect catchy songs, plenty of laughs and an empowering story about confidence, friendship and staying true to yourself. West End star Nathania Ong leads the cast as Elle Woods, bringing her acclaimed stage experience from Les Misérables and Hamilton to the iconic pink-loving heroine. Better yet, the musical is SG Culture Pass eligible, so you can use your $100 SG Culture Pass credits towards your tickets.

Good Vibes Social (Aug 1 and Aug 2)

Wellness meets beach club vibes at Good Vibes Social, a community-led fitness and lifestyle festival taking over FOC Beach Club. Expect a full day of movement with classes by some of Asia’s biggest fitness names, including Yoga Movement, STRONG Pilates and REVL Training, spanning everything from yoga and Pilates to strength and conditioning.

Beyond the workouts, there’ll also be cold plunges, recovery experiences, matcha and cocktail workshops, lifestyle activations, plus DJs spinning Afro Beats, R&B and funk throughout the day. Stick around on the first evening as the festival transforms into a sunset beach party from 6pm to 10pm.

Xava Skybar Opening (Aug 1 onwards)

National Gallery Singapore’s newest rooftop destination, Xava Skybar, officially opens on 1 August, bringing panoramic views of the Padang and Marina Bay alongside globally inspired food and tropical cocktails.

Taking over the former Art di Daniele Sperindio space, the 7,000 sq ft venue features an LED ceiling that transforms throughout the day with immersive digital visuals. Expect dishes like Petite Lobster Rolls and Bourbon Glazed Beef Short Ribs, paired with creative cocktails including the Mango Hour, Purple Tide and its signature Xava Sling.

Light Together Bras Basah Bugis (1 August to 5 September)

Celebrate Singapore’s 61st birthday at the inaugural Light Together Bras Basah Bugis, a month-long night festival illuminating the Bras Basah Bugis precinct from 1 August to 5 September. Across five locations, visitors can explore immersive light and digital art installations inspired by local myths and legends, transforming heritage buildings into interactive storytelling experiences.

Don’t miss Voyage of Icons, a striking projection mapping by visual artist Howie Kim on the façade of the National Museum, alongside family-friendly workshops, performances, exhibitions and National Day programmes happening throughout the festival.

Light Together Bras Basah.Bugis takes place across the Bras Basah Bugis precinct.

The Block Party: Pre National Edition by Soul Vibe x Coriander Leaf (1 August)

If an afternoon and evening of good food and drinks over groovy music sounds like your vibe – head down to Singapore Polo Club for Soul Vibe and pan-Asian restaurant Coriander Leaf’s pre-National Day Block Party happening Saturday 1 August from 2pm-10pm.

Visitors can enjoy a sprawling market of local made beers, spirits and non-alcoholic brands with a backdrop of Motown, Funk and Reggae music spun by local DJs. Available for all ages, tickets are priced at $15 per pax which includes a glass of Rachelle the Rabbit Singapore Sling.

The Grafunkt x IN GOOD COMPANY Weekend Market (31 July to 2 August)

Grafunkt Weekend Market returns from 31 July to 2 August, expanding into fashion brand IN GOOD COMPANY’s new Joo Chiat home. The market brings together a curated lineup of independent brands, makers and experiences spanning design, fashion and lifestyle, alongside community-focused activities and programming.

On 1 and 2 August, IN GOOD COMPANY will host Calm Ritual: Rest & Restore, a 50-minute guided lymphatic self-massage workshop led by Kokoro Salon founder Dr Lynnette Tan, a primary care physician and certified Deep Lymphatic Self-Massage Instructor.

Using ANOTHER LAND’s Calm Immersion Body Lotion, participants will learn a gentle massage sequence for the scalp, neck, shoulders and forearms, with guidance on the lymphatic system, hands-on practice and reflection. Designed to encourage relaxation and body awareness, the take-home ritual may help ease tension, support circulation and promote better sleep.

The Makers Ground @ EXPO (1 and 2 August)

The first-ever edition of The Makers Ground @ EXPO lands on 1 and 2 August for one weekend only. From 10am-6pm, browse an indoor market featuring nearly 50 homegrown brands offering fresh produce, handmade crafts, ceramics, plants and more, while meeting the makers behind the products.

Beyond shopping, enjoy live acoustic performances by local duo Mellow Rous (3–5pm daily) and stand a chance to win prizes at the Spin & Win wheel on Level 2 with qualifying purchases. Whether you’re looking to support local brands, uncover unique finds or simply enjoy a day out, The Makers Ground @ EXPO promises a lively celebration of community and creativity.

National Day Celebrations at the National Museum (1 to 12 August)

Celebrate Singapore’s 61st birthday at the National Museum of Singapore this August with a line-up of National Day programmes including interactive storytelling, workshops, live performances. A key highlight of the event is the Our Favourite Haunts: Through the Lens of Migrant Workers, a photography exhibition showcasing the perspectives of Singapore’s migrant community running from 2 Aug to 13 Sep 2026. 

From 1 to 12 August, the museum’s iconic facade will also transform with Voyage of Icons, a projection mapping installation by visual artist Howie Kim that brings Singapore’s founding myths and national story to life. 

Work Permit and Special Pass holders can enjoy free entry to the museum’s permanent galleries on 2 August, with complimentary admission continuing on the last Sunday of every month until September.

6.1k for SG61 - A National Day Heritage Run (2 August)

Celebrate SG61 on the move with ButterBee Active’s 6.1km heritage run, held in partnership with SportSG’s GetActive! Singapore campaign. Held on Sunday 2 Aug from 730am to 930am, organised together with REVL Training (City Hall) and Nylon Coffee, the community run combines fitness with a journey through Singapore’s multicultural heritage.

The 6.1km route, symbolising Singapore’s 61st birthday, takes participants past 12 historic landmarks, from Fort Canning to the temples, mosques and shrines of Telok Ayer, before ending with a well-earned specialty coffee at Nylon Coffee in Everton Park.

HoYoFEST Singapore (31 July to 2 August)

HoYoFEST 2026 returns to Singapore from 31 July to 2 August, taking over Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre’s Hall 403 for three days of celebrations dedicated to HoYoverse’s biggest titles, including Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail and Zenless Zone Zero. Fans can shop exclusive merchandise, browse Artist Alley, catch cosplay runway showcases and live stage performances, and connect with fellow players. Visitors can also join the Stamp Rally to collect stamps around the convention or take part in game booths, like the “Speedy Collector”, where Genshin Impact fans can test their skills to earn exclusive freebies.
