There’s no doubt that Singaporeans love free stuff, including phone applications. Unfortunately, not all free apps come with the best functions that we’ll enjoy using in the long run.
If you really want to get the best apps, you’re going to have to drop a dollar or two. Apple recently released a list of top apps Singaporean iOS users are downloading from the App store, with photography apps unsurprisingly taking up the top spots.
Since you might be unsure which apps are actually worth spending your hard-earned money on, we’ve come up with a list of the best apps (including stuff other than photography) you need to download right now.

Best apps Singaporeans should get
10. Analog Paris, $1.48

9. Glitché, $1.48

If you like hipster-looking photos that look like tech glitches, you’ll love this app. It transforms a normal photo into a glitchy-looking one, but not in a bad way. Think Ghost in the Shell movie, but in photo form. You can even make GIFs to share with friends!
8. Tabs & Chords - learn and play, $4.48
image
Are you a budding musician who is looking to get a lot of practice? Or a hobbyist who plays music in their free time? This app has an extensive collection of chords and lyrics for you to practise with. You can even watch videos of other musicians playing instruments to pick up a tip or two from them.
7. LightX, $2.98

Whether you want to merge two images together, touch up blemishes or change the colour of your outfit, you can do all that and more in this app. There’s even a Caricature feature that turns portraits into caricature-like photos.
6. Forest by Seekrtech, $2.98

This one’s made for the procrastinator who gets distracted over minute things. Before you start work, plant a tree. The tree will grow for as long as you work.
Once you get distracted and stop working, it dies (which is pretty much a morbid illustration of our career). Reviewers have said that this acts as a visual stimulation to motivate them to work.
5. Enlight, $4.48

Ever wanted to create artistic images but lack the creative cells? With this app, you can let your artistic imagination run wild. Superimpose images to create gallery-worthy ones, or play around with text and images to create those that will make your designer friends surprised.
4. Scanner for Me + OCR, $9.98
image
This app basically turns your phone into a scanner. The difference between this and your camera function is that this turns a photo of your document into a legit-looking PDF that you can edit, sign and send.
You don’t even have to take the photo upright – it can be tilted (as long as it’s face-up) and the app will adjust the orientation accordingly.
3. kirakira+, $1.48
image
Like its name, this app makes your photos “kira kira”, which means sparkle. Whether you’re taking a photo of fairy lights, shiny metals or just random things you want to illuminate, this app adds sparkles to your videos and photos.
2. TouchRetouch, $2.98
image
Think you got that perfect photo that’s only marred by a random line or object sticking out? Get rid of those in a jiffy with this app, which is similar to Photoshop’s Patch tool. We don’t know if it works when you try to remove people, but if it does, at least you don’t have to use the Diddy crop.
1. Gudak Cam, $1.48
image
If you love old-school type of filters, you’ll love this app. But what differentiates this from the rest is that you gotta wait three days before you can edit your photos because it mimics how the film camera works – you gotta wait a while to develop the films.
