With technology constantly evolving and improving, there are now so many tools, gadgets, hardware and applications that are dedicated to making our lives more convenient, faster, easier and more entertaining. In fact, it’s simply impossible to think of life these days without the ease of technology.

Below, our editors share some devices that are most integral to their daily routines, and for which they are truly grateful for.

1. Apple AirPods

“These are life-changing. I’m using an iPhone XS, which has no earphone jack. Most of the time, I have my phone charged because I use it so much for work and social media so the juice runs low some times (I also have a habit of charging my phone every time I see a cable). Which means, it’s impossible for me to charge my phone AND listen to music or transcribe interviews at the same time until the AirPods came along. It’s also super handy because I don’t have to fumble with cables. Plus, it charges in a jiffy so really, you can’t go wrong with this.” — Hidayah Idris, Associate Digital Editor, CLEO

2. Sennheiser HD 4.50 BTNC Wireless Headphones

“I love my Sennheiser HD 4.50 BTNC Noise Cancelling Wireless Headphones. I keep them by my bedside, so I can listen to music, podcasts or catch up on my current Netflix obsessions before falling asleep every night. I love it because it gives very decent sound, even without the noise-cancelling feature, and it’s doesn’t hurt or crush my ears. Plus, wireless — can’t beat that.” — Penelope Chan, Executive Editor, Her World

3. DJI Osmo Pocket

“For me it’s got to be the DJI Osmo Pocket. It’s small, so it fits into my handbag; and it takes 4k videos (if you need them). It’s got a stabiliser — so there’s no need for a separate gimbal — and it makes filming videos on the go so much easier. It can be used on its own or attached to my smartphone for more functions. One of my favourite inventions!” — Barbara Koh, Editor-in-Chief, The Singapore Women’s Weekly

4. Logitech MX Ergo

“Believe it or not, I can’t live without a trackball mouse. Introduced to me in the 90s when I was picking up CAD (computer-aided design) training in my engineering course, the school’s training lab was fully equipped with trackballs. Dumbfounded when I first chanced upon it, within days, it became apparent why it was the mouse to mitigate my chances of running into carpal tunnel syndrome and improve my time interfacing with computers in general. The impact it made to my life was so great, I used to even play games with a trackball mouse. These days, I even pack one for overseas work trips. It’s not for everyone, but it’s an acquired taste. My choice of trackball mouse and the best in the industry is the Logitech MX Ergo.” — Vijay Anand, Editor-in-Chief,

5. RODE VideoMic Me-L Directional Mic

“This is a tiny thumb-size microphone that has a shaped plug that fits the iPhone. Plus there’s a “dead cat” cover to prevent wind noise. It’s a simple plug and play. Just plug into your phone microphone outlet and any video you shoot dramatically improves. The RODE Smart Lav+ Lavalier Mic is also very useful and fits a camera or a smartphone. Again, so easy, but dramatically improves video sound.” — Tara Barker, Group Editor, SPH Magazines

6. AfterShokz Trekz Air Headphones

“I absolutely love my Trekz Air ear headphones. I’ve always had problems with earphones because the ear pieces either don’t fit my ears and keep falling off, or they make me feel really suffocated and light-headed because they shut off all noise too completely. I tend not to go for headphones too, because they make me feel too claustrophobic. But these open ear headphones solve all the issues I’ve been having for the longest time. Making use of bone conduction technology to deliver music through your cheekbones, I love that the ear pieces are secured just outside of your ears, so you can hear your music loud and clear (and trust me, the sound quality is excellent), while ensuring that your ears remain completely open to hear ambient sounds. The headpiece also wraps around my head very comfortably — there’s none of that tight feeling around the cheekbones — and there are no pesky wires to deal with because of its bluetooth technology.” — Joy Fang, Associate Editor, Digital Trending Desk
