Easy ways to liven up your home and keep it looking trendy

Look, we’re not saying that our homes have to be the perfect likebait for your Insta-feed, but there’s something nice about returning from a long day at work to a house that looks as fresh and trendy as you.

Hold your trepidation; we understand. We’re all busy women juggling a lot, so we know that house maintenance isn’t always priority number one – especially given that it tends to be time-consuming. That’s why we’ve got this simple list of things you can do to keep your home looking like the sanctuary that it is (and all the better if it just so happens to get more likes on Instagram).

1. Paint it…whatever you want

Don’t scoff just yet! We’re not talking about painting your walls with a fresh coat of Gen Z Yellow. A simple way to achieve a cohesive aesthetic without having to replace all your existing furniture is to paint them in your desired colour scheme. So if your light-washed wood bedside table isn’t fitting into your minimalist white and gold bedroom, then all the paintbrush and roller (and a small tub of white paint) are your best friends here.

2. Have a star

In the same vein as our first point, you don’t have to purchase a whole new set of quirky furniture to accomplish a standout room. Forget the quirky living room set and invest in a quality item that can serve as the centerpiece. This will help tie the entire room together, without leaving it looking too bland, nor too eccentric and, well, outlandish.

3. It’s the little things

If you’re looking for a more temporary fix, then here’s what we recommend: Add small decorative items that add the perfect embellishment to the room. A mirror, for example, can create the illusion of a bigger room. An assortment of varying-sized mirrors, strategically positioned, can reflect natural and artificial light, thereby brightening up whichever room you’re in. Naturally, adding houseplants to the room will also freshen up the ambience.

4. Knob it out

Here’s a little unorthodox tip that you could try: Instead of scouring high and low for a unique cabinet piece, all you have to do is swap out the knob for one that you purchased yourself. It’s a quick and cost-effective method to customise any piece of furniture you own without having to start from scratch completely. Which brings us to our last point.

5. Customising is king

If you’re a little fickle, or if you’re someone that just enjoys a frequent change in scenery, then don’t worry. Here at Her World, we believe that the product should be made to fit your needs, and not the other way around. So even though it may be tough, finding something that can easily be customised is definitely worth your time and money. That’s why we love the new Bosch VarioStyle Freezer-Fridge that is launching this month. With just a lift and clip, you can easily switch up the vibe of your kitchen whenever you so desire. The panels on the door come in 19 vibrant colours and are easily interchangeable within seconds, allowing you to find the perfect colour to fit your personality and mood anytime. The best part? As young homeowners, having a space where we can express our mood and character, makes for a place we can truly call home– so why not invest in appliances and furniture that will fit seamlessly into our lifestyle and add that extra life into our houses?
