TikTok blew up the last few months over Drake and The Weeknd’s new release “Heart on My Sleeve”. The only twist to the tale – the viral song was actually made by an AI Music generator, simulating the voices of megastars like Drake, Ariana Grande and The Weeknd. French DJ and producer David Guetta even joined in on the fun with an AI-generated EDM song, including a verse by Eminem that sounded strikingly similar to the rapper himself.

Creating viral hits ‘sung’ by the industry's biggest stars has never been easier with AI. These cloned artists do sound like too much autotune and are rife with legal controversy  – but they’re passable as online novelties. But how do we do so on our own? Luckily, there are plenty of free AI music generators available online: AIVA, Soundful and Boomy, just to name a few.

However, before you get started, many artists have publicly refused to allow their voices to be used for AI generation, and this is a contentious topic. You don’t want to be caught red-handed by your favourite idols for copyright infringement, so use these names at your own risk.
