Chasing sunsets: Where to watch the sunset in Singapore
Simply watching the sun slowly go down, without a worry in the world — it doesn’t get much better than this
By Natalie-Elizabeth Tan & Shazrina Shamsudin -
With all the hustle and bustle of city life in Singapore, it can be easy to forget to take a moment to slow down and just relax. This weekend, why not take some time off — even if it’s just for an hour — to go somewhere where you can watch the sunset? After all, what better way to forget all your worries than simply watching the sun slowly set, swathed in gorgeous hues of pink, orange and purple?
P.S. If you see the sunset there, do keep in mind that it means you likely won’t be able to catch the sunrise in the same place, unless the area has unobstructed 360-degree views.
What better way to wrap up your beach day than with a sunset watch party at Palawan Beach? This year, Sentosa has rolled out a new programme where guests can reserve a spot, kick back, and soak in the golden hour as the sun dips below the horizon. Plus, you’ll get to snap some stunning photos and even bring home a keepsake to remember the moment.
Whether you’re out for an evening stroll around Marina Bay or squeezing in your weekly run, the Helix Bridge is a prime spot to catch the sunset. It offers beautiful views of the skyline, with the golden light reflecting off the water, making your workout (or wind-down) feel extra rewarding.
For an urban-chic sunset experience, head up to rooftops like Pinnacle@Duxton where you’ll get sweeping skyline views.
Within Punggol Waterway Park in the far north-east of Singapore lies Jewel Bridge, named after the minimalist dome-shaped structure in the middle of it. You can just visit Jewel Bridge for the awe-inspiring sunset, but considering how beautiful the entire park is, we recommend that you hop on a bike (they are available for rent) and explore the entire park. Then, take a breather on Jewel Bridge just as the sun sets.

There are different ways one can get up to Mount Faber, such as driving or walking, but the best way to get up is by cable car, which runs from Mount Faber to Sentosa Island. The scenic cable car ride itself has plenty of views, but Mount Faber has telescopes at lookout points over 100m above sea level where you can try to spot landmarks along the Southern Waterfront, skyscrapers, HDBs and more.

One of the restaurants situated on Mount Faber is Dusk Restaurant & Bar. And as its name suggests, it’s best to dine at Dusk at dusk! With expansive rainforest views and cable cars whizzing by in the distance, the scenery is best enjoyed while clutching Dusk’s signature Nitro-Frost Caviar Martini.

Located along Singapore’s coast, this 2.2km-long path has views every step of the way. You’ll start off at Changi Creek in the east, walk along the coast near Changi Beach Club, before finally ending up at Changi Point or Loyang Park Connector.
It begins from Changi Creek in the east and stretches to the western rocky coast near Changi Beach Club, before finally linking up to Changi Point or Loyang Park Connector at Netheravon Road. Along the way, see if you can spot exotic wildlife such as the striking blue pacific swallow or common sun skink.

Considering how gorgeous Gardens by the Bay is during the day, imagine just how breathtaking the views are at sunset. This iconic attraction may be best known for its Cloud Forest and Flower Dome, but we think the sunset is best enjoyed among the futuristic Supertrees.

This rooftop bar, perched on the 57th floor of the iconic Marina Bay Sands, has great views of the glittering central business district, and of course, a spectacular view of the sunset. CÉ LA VI consists of a restaurant, skybar and lounge. We say go to the skybar, where the talented mixologists craft cocktails like Summer Love and High ‘T’ — best accompanied by their delicious bar bites.

The Singapore Flyer stands tall at 165m, holding the place of second tallest Ferris wheel in the world, after the High Roller in Las Vegas. On board the glass cabin, bask in the unencumbered views of Singapore’s skyscrapers on one side, and the serene Gardens by the Bay and the sea on the other side.
Hop on just before the sun starts to set, and watch the sky go from day to night as you make a round on the Singapore Flyer.

Marina Barrage may be a dam, but it’s so much more than that. The rooftop of the barrage is a vast green space, so rare in this part of Singapore! It’s a popular spot for activities such as kite-flying and frisbee, but many also like to set up a picnic mat and just relax while observing the azure blue sky. Come at sunset for unparalleled views of the sky, and enjoy some snacks while you’re at it.

Situated on the 33rd floor of Marina Bay Financial Centre, LeVel33 is as known for its breathtaking views of the skyline as it is known for their craft beers. This says a lot, considering that the bar prides itself on being the world’s highest urban microbrewery. That said, LeVel33 also has a pretty impressive curation of wines featuring exclusive labels where less than 5,000 cases were produced.
Head to the bar for a sundowner after work, just in time to watch the sun set over Marina Bay.

Though not a park per se, in the sense that lush foliage isn’t the main attraction here, Merlion Park is still worth a visit during sunset. The main draw of this park is the mythical Merlion, which stands at nearly 9 metres tall with the central business district as the backdrop. On the other side, you’ll see Marina Bay Sands against the vast sea.
Simply stroll around the park while taking in the sunset. Alternatively, you can also pop by one of many F&B establishments located along the waterfront.
