Skateboarding has been picking up pace in Singapore, especially over the last two years during the pandemic. And while most hobbies like quilting or exercising at home are dying out, it seems that activities like skateboarding and surfskating are showing no signs of slowing down.
If you haven't already heard, a new action sports attraction at Somerset is set to open in 2023. And yes, we're talking about the Trifecta by The Ride Side. Covering 49,611 square feet, the new space located at Orchard Road is the first attraction in Asia to house three action sports arenas under one roof. Some of the activities that you can expect include skating, surfing and skiing.
Since The Ride Side started in 2015, the company has seen more interest among Singaporeans as well as international customers who are eager to try these sports — with their community growing to over 10,000 members.
To find out what Trifecta by The Ride Side has in store for you next year, keep on scrolling.
Gone are the days when you need to travel overseas to fulfil your need for adrenaline. Over at Trifecta, you'll be able to satisfy your wanderlust and ski the "slopes" in the snow arena, that's powered by the first virtual reality (VR) ski simulator in Asia with the help of the best-in-class speed simulation and directional movements that help to mimic the uneven terrain of a natural mountain. Besides, it's a great alternative to skiing down the snowy mountains of Japan especially now that we still can't travel to the Land of the Rising Sun.
You no longer need to travel to Bali to surf. Here at the surf arena, you can expect a deep water wave pool that offers an exhilarating surf experience. With water columns of 1.5m, the deepest in Singapore, rest assured that this attraction will have you coming back for more waves.
Finding new spots to skate in Singapore? Look no further than the skate arena here at Trifecta. Much like the skate bowls of California, here, you can try out the first-ever hybrid skate bowl that's designed for skateboarding and surfskating. What's great about it is that it's not only the first skate bowl in Somerset, but it's also the first surfskate circuit in Singapore too! So if you're looking for new places to surfskate besides the National Stadium, Gardens by the Bay or even at MBS, then this place will soon be your next favourite spot to hang out with your friends.
In hopes of encouraging more youths to immerse themselves in these action sports, Trifecta will be introducing its very own Youth Pass. Here, participants who are under the age of 21 years old can purchase discounted one-day tickets and access passes to the attraction.
Separately, for national athletes who are more serious about training and improving their skills, there will also be an Athlete Pass that will be available for purchase, so they can easily access the attraction and use it as their training ground.
But that's not all. In fact, Trifecta has also came up with a wide range of unique eco-education programmes that will be held which will include educational tours on sustainable spatial design of the attraction and upcycling and recycling programmes to extend the usage of sports equipment.
The Ride Side will open the doors to Trifecta, the first snow, surf, and skate attraction in the world in 2023.
