Things to do in Singapore this weekend: 1 to 3 July
Make the most out of your weekends with these activities
By Shazrina -
The month of July is finally here and what better way to ring in the new month than with some of the most fabulous activities this weekend. Starting off, check out Aperol's first bar crawl in Singapore, where tipplers will get to explore the different bars across four districts while indulging in glasses of Aperol Spritz. Or for those looking to let loose, you can dance the night away at Marquee's reopening happening from 1 July onwards.
There's a ton of activities that have been lined up for you this weekend, and if you're still unsure of what to do, keep on scrolling.
Aperol is debuting its first-ever bar crawl in the first two weeks of July. As part of the experience, tipplers can expect to explore and hop from one bar to another across four districts including Bayfront, Chinatown, East Coast, and Riverwalk. Happening on 2nd, 3rd, 9th and 10th July 2022, attendees can choose their preferred neighbourhood, of which they are then given a map to bar hop across five venues in no particular order. The tickets for the #JoinTheJoy experience are available online and each pass will entitle you to five Aperol Spritzes and a gift bag including a fan, sunglasses, and water.
Alternatively, there's also a Guided Aperitivo Experience, where guests will be taken to three restaurants serving Aperol Spritzes paired with snacks from different cuisines.
Some of the participating venues include Town Restaurant at Fullerton Hotel, Picotin, Bayside Drinks & Eats, The Kongsee, Alegria, Potato Head, The Guild, Vue, and Mooloolabar.
The Aperol bar crawl will be happening from 2-3 July and 9-10 July 2022, and will be located at selected locations.
Check out California's three-Michelin-starred SingleThread pop-up at Singapore's Fullerton Waterboat House
The highly anticipated three Michelin-starred SingleThread restaurant from California's Sonoma Wine County will run a month-long pop-up here in July. Here, chef-patron Kyle Connaughton along with his dedicated team of chefs and staff will operate from one-Michelin-starred restaurant Basque Kitchen by Aitor at The Fullerton Waterboat House.
And if there's one thing we're most excited about, it would have to be the seven-course tasting menu — inspired by Connaughton's time living in Hokkaido, Japan, that will be available for both lunch and dinner.
For the unacquainted, SingleThread gained a loyal following for its Japanese-influenced cuisine complemented with fresh ingredients from its farm run by Connaughton's wife Katina. On top of that, the couple is also known for its amazing hospitality as well. Named as the One To Watch in 2018 by The World's 50 Best Restaurants, SingleThread also debuted at No. 37 on the list in 2021.
The SingleThread Restaurant residency will run from 1 to 30 July 2022, serving from Wednesday to Sunday. The 7-course lunch and dinner is priced at $498++. Alcoholic drinks pairing is available at $318++ for lunch and dinner. Non Alcoholic pairing $128++ for lunch and dinner.
The pop-up will be located at Basque Kitchen by Aitor, 3 Fullerton Rd, #02-01/02/03 The Fullerton Waterboat House, Singapore 049215
Get ready for a night of debauchery and madness at Marquee this weekend. Singapore's largest nightclub has announced that it will be opening its doors again on 1 July after two years of closure. Tickets are now on sale on Marquee's website, but it's selling out fast, so we recommend getting your hands on them a few weeks beforehand to avoid any disappointments. What's more, the club will be open on Fridays, Saturdays and the eve of public holidays at 10pm, continuing all night long till 6am.
Of course, we couldn't be more excited to see the return of the iconic Ferris Wheel that offers a bird's eye view of the dancefloor, as well as the three-storey spiralling slides that take you from the bar to the dancefloor in seconds.
Marquee Singapore is located at 2 Bayfront Avenue B1-67, Galleria Level, The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, 018972
Happening from 2 July to 24 August, Leica ambassador AikBeng Chia will be having an exhibition at the Leica Galerie, that will showcase behind the scenes of 12 homegrown artists to reveal the characters who’ve been key players in Singapore’s blossoming creative scene. These creatives include makers, creators and artists who have demonstrated a high degree of artistic talent and skill over the past decade in Singapore — for instance, visual artist, Sam Lo, and tattoo artist, Shane Tan.
AikBeng Chia’s exhibition: Art ‘R’ Us is located at Leica Galerie Singapore, 328 North Bridge Road, #01-20, Singapore 188719.
Miss the food from down under? Well, you'll be glad to know that there will be a Melbourne Brunch Festival happening this July. For the whole month, the festival, organised by Global Victoria and Agriculture Victoria, will rope in 11 restaurants including favourites like The Kongsee, Tess Bar & Kitchen, Tolido’s Espresso Nook, Punch and Terra Madre, of which the restaurants will be offering specially curated menus that showcase top-quality fruits, vegetables, dairy, and beef from the city’s home state of Victoria.
