Sofitel Le Scribe Paris Opéra: An eclectic and artsy hotel for a Parisian adventure
Travel is officially back with a vengeance. If you’re looking to splurge while visiting the City of Lights, we’ve got you covered.

Nestled on the right bank, north of the River Seine, the Sofitel Le Scribe Paris Opéra is the hotel to stay in if you want to live out the idyllic Parisian dream. After spending two years of refurbishment, the hotel has gone through a transformation with artistic elements greeting guests in every corner. A building steeped in Parisian life and history, we love the accidental Wes Anderson vibes of the hotel facade that greet you, making you feel as if you’re about to enter a quirky Parisian adventure and embrace all of the eccentricities the hotel has to offer.
While the furnishing is luxurious, it is never pretentious, with details such as the colourful lobby furniture, checkerboard floors and art-filled ceilings breathing life into such a storied building. From the lobby, the dining establishments, and the rooms, the property is visually stunning, eclectic pieces of art to be found everywhere. Although prices are not cheap, rooms here are decently priced given its premium location in one of the world’s most expensive cities.
If there’s one thing that luxury Parisian hotels have gotten right, it’s that their guest rooms always tend to feel more like a mini apartment than a generic hotel room. Opulent, without being too over-the-top, the rooms are furnished like the iconic Haussmann-era apartments we lust over Instagram, allowing you to temporarily live out that perfect Parisian apartment dream lifestyle many have coveted.
Think, colourful lamps in the corner that give the room a quirky touch, a beautiful walk-in wardrobe that acts as a nod to luxury department stores and also doubles up as a room decor feature, and our favourite feature — a decorative fireplace that acts as a centrepiece. We love how the mirror above cleverly conceals the television monitor. The bathrooms are also another Haussmann-era feature and are very spacious with two sinks, a bathtub, and a shower.
Painfully aesthetically pleasing, Le Scribe’s new restaurant Rivage sits beneath a beautiful glass roof. Here, guests can enjoy seasonal Mediterranean cuisine whilst lounging on plush, velvet pink chairs as they take in a menu of fish, seafood, raw delicacies, risotto, pasta and legendary dishes from St Tropez. The restaurant is fairly popular and can get booked up even on a weekday, so be sure to make your reservations early if you would like to eat here!
If not, be sure to get a drink at the Le Scribe cocktail bar or Le Café Scribe for prime people-watching.
Set in the lively neighbourhood of Opéra, the 9th arrondissement is a premium location and offers you great sightseeing and shopping options all around (the majestic Opéra Garnier is literally around the corner from the hotel). Olympia Music Hall is also located in this neighbourhood, where you can book tickets to see local or international acts followed by a late dinner in the vicinity such as retro spot Le Shack. If budget is no option, treat yourself to a decadent dinner at CoCo, the restaurant at Opéra Garnier. With its roaring ‘20s vibe and grand decor, it will be a luxurious dining experience like no other
For the strollers looking to while their time away, try visiting the Passage des Panoramas. One of Paris’s first covered walkways, the store windows year have retained their old-fashioned charm, giving you a feel of what it’s like to shop amongst the merchants of a different time.
If you’re a heavy-duty shopper who likes to see all your favourite brands in one place, grand department stores such as Galeries Lafayette and Printemps are all only a walking distance away, making it super convenient and efficient to get all your souvenir shopping done. For those with high street shopping on their mind, Champs-Élysées is also just a short Uber or Metro ride away.
The regular rooms can be a tight fit if you’re travelling with a lot of baggage and might be worth upgrading to a junior suite if you’re a heavy traveller.
