Netflix’s Single’s Inferno season 5 is full of dating flags, and honestly, it’s half the reason we can’t stop watching. Between the new gamechangers entering the island, the Paradise dates, and the constant switching of interests, everyone is giving something different every episode. One moment, a contestant seems loyal and consistent. The next, they’re turning their head at the slightest bit of attention.

And let’s be real, Single’s Inferno isn’t just a dating show at this point. It’s basically a social experiment where flirting styles, emotional maturity, and mixed signals are put under a microscope. So naturally, we’re analysing every conversation, side-eye, and “I want to get to know you” moment like it’s our full-time job. From green flags who make us believe in love again, to beige flags we still can’t read, to red flags that leave viewers screaming at the screen, here’s our breakdown of the biggest dating flags of the season so far.

Green Flags

Hyeon-woo was obviously smitten with Kim Go-eun. Throughout their time in Paradise, he treated her like a princess, showering her with compliments and constantly telling her how cute she was. It felt genuine rather than excessive.

He comes across as a green flag because he stayed laser-focused on getting to know Go-eun better and consistently put in the effort to show his interest, even back in Inferno. He even took the time to write down what he liked most about her and showed it to her in Paradise, which was honestly adorable.

On top of that, after coming in second (behind Jo I-geon) and losing the chance to bring Go-eun along, he chose to forfeit his own opportunity to go to Paradise rather than go with someone else. It was a small but telling moment that showed how intentional he was about his feelings for her.

While he initially went to Paradise with Kim Min-gee, Sung-min quickly turned his attention to Kim Go-eun and stayed locked in on her for the rest of the episodes. His persistence could be seen as admirable, but at times it came off a little overbearing.

After Go-eun returned from Paradise, he immediately pulled her aside before she had a chance to settle in, which felt like a bit much. He also came across as quite clingy, continuing to hover around her even when Jo I-geon wanted to take turns speaking with her. Instead of stepping back, Sung-min insisted on staying close and making his presence known.

Kim Jae-jin

Jae-jin is honestly an oddball in the best way. From the way he walks to the way he talks, he has his quirks, and his humour lands naturally without trying too hard. He’s calm, composed, and quietly charming, the kind of presence that makes you smile without even realising it. Definitely not red flag territory, just very “interesting vibes, can’t fully read him yet”.

That said, he still comes across as a green flag overall. He’s open about his interest in Joo-young, and the two share one of the most genuine and natural connections compared to the others.

Lee Seung-il

At first, it did seem like Lee Seung-il was open to getting to know Choi Mina Sue when she showed interest in him, which is honestly valid since it’s only been a few days and everyone’s still figuring things out. But at the end of the day, he still chooses to stay loyal to Kim Min-gee and continues pursuing her because she has been the one showing him the most attention and interest. And clearly, he appreciates that.

Park Hee-sun

From the start, Park Hee-sun knew exactly what she wanted, and it was Lim Su-bin. The moment they met, her eyes were only on him and she was consistent about it. It’s refreshing, especially in a show where everyone changes their mind every ten minutes.

That said, her one slightly questionable moment was when she admitted that Su-bin caught her attention because he looked like her ex. Like… that is honestly the worst thing you can say to someone you’re trying to pursue. But overall, her loyalty and straightforwardness still feel very green flag.

Beige Flags

Kim Min-gee

She falls fast, sure, but when Min-gee genuinely likes someone, she gives them her full attention. Her interest in Seung-il was clear from the start, and she stayed set on him for quite a while, which initially came across as a green flag.

That perception shifted after she went to Paradise with Su-bin. Realising how much they had in common, the two spent hours talking and showing their softer sides, and it became obvious how much she enjoyed his company. She even asked whether his feelings had changed after their time together, showing that she was starting to question her own.

They talked late into the night and eventually fell asleep in the same bed after getting tipsy, which highlighted how quickly she can open up when she feels a connection. It doesn’t necessarily make her a red flag, just someone whose feelings can evolve when the chemistry is right.

Lim Su-bin

Su-bin gave major green flag energy at first, but things started to feel a little questionable when he tried to make Choi Mina Sue jealous while spending time with Park Hee-sun. When Mina Sue made it clear she was also exploring other connections despite his interest, he didn’t dwell on it for long. Instead, he did a full 180 and shifted his attention to someone who was more openly invested in him, like Hee-sun, who had been consistent from day one.

That said, he reads as something of a beige flag too. While he eventually expressed his feelings for Hee-sun after working through the Mina Sue situation, his stance wavered when he unexpectedly went to Paradise with Kim Min-gee. After spending the day talking, he admitted he wasn’t sure how he felt because it was still early, though he later shared that he found her cute. It doesn’t necessarily point to indecision, but it does show he’s open to seeing where new connections might go.

Youn Hyun-jae

Youn Hyun-jae has always expressed interest in Lee Joo-young, and the issue is not that he’s loyal. It’s that he doesn’t seem open to getting to know anyone else at all, even though he hasn’t even gone on a proper date with her yet.

Some might argue Kim Min-gee is doing the same thing, but the difference is Min-gee actually went on dates and pursued Seung-il after spending time with him. Meanwhile, Hyun-jae barely bats an eye at anyone else. It feels less like commitment and more like tunnel vision.

Lee Sung-hun (Samuel Lee)

Lee Sung-hun has always expressed interest in Choi Mina Sue. Beyond just her looks, he seems to find comfort in the fact that she can speak English with him naturally. With her background studying in the US and him living in New York City, their conversations feel easy, and that clearly matters to him.

At the start, he looked like he genuinely wanted to pursue her. But Mina Sue made it clear she likes having him around as company, and it feels like she’s putting him in the friend zone… or at least keeping him as emotional support. She confides in him a lot, and sometimes it comes off like he’s being used as a convenient shoulder to cry on.

One quirky thing about Lee Sung-hun though is that he’s very Gen Z coded. He calls everyone “bro”, especially Mina Sue, and his mannerisms feel very westernised, like he’s talking to his guy friends even when he’s flirting.

Red Flags

Choi Mina Sue

Let’s be real, Mina Sue has easily been one of the most controversial contestants this season, but she’s also undeniably entertaining to watch. From the moment she walked in (yes, in that yellow Zara dress everyone talked about), she had the guys hooked. But as the episodes went on, things got messy. She’s shown interest in multiple people in a short span of time, and it’s honestly been hard to keep track.

She clearly still has lingering feelings for Lim Su-bin, even if she tries to mask it by flirting with other guys. In the process, contestants like Song Seung-il and Sung-han end up caught in the middle, especially when she leans into their attention despite still talking about Su-bin, even comparing their Paradise experience to meeting a first love.

It comes across like she enjoys the chase but loses interest once that attention is secured, which makes her seem indecisive and confusing to both the contestants and viewers. At the same time, the show unfolds over just a few days, so she could simply be exploring her options. Red flag or not, one thing’s clear, she knows how to keep the audience hooked and the drama going.
