Louis Vuitton Journeys Awards 2012

Louis Vuitton Journeys Awards 2012We meet scores of people everyday but which of these encounters leave a lasting impression on us? In the hands of creative filmmakers, every encounter becomes extraordinary.

Competing in this year’s Louis Vuitton Journeys Awards, 10 shortlisted short films pay tribute to fateful meetings that shape and change us.

For the second edition of this Louis Vuitton film competition, Italian director Luca Guadagnino challenged filmmakers from all over the world with a simple brief — to create short films on meaningful encounters.

These films had to be between three to five minutes in length and without dialogue.

The entries couldn’t be even more different.

From a blossoming romance to a re-encounter between old friends, watch how international filmmakers celebrate fortuitous encounters and see how experiences can be shared across space and time. Even if some of the characters may never meet, like in ‘Share’ by Alexis Willis.

This year, one Singapore film has been shortlisted. Watch Singapore filmmaker Pang Yoong Hui’s poignant short ‘Closer to Me’, featured below; it’s a truly moving depiction of love and loss.

You can also play a part in deciding the winner. From now to September 3, help your favourite short film win the People’s Choice Award by voting for it at the Louis Vuitton Journeys Awards webpage.

Winners of the Jury’s Awards and the People’s Choice Awards will be announced on September 15, 2012. Visit www.journeysawards.com/en_US for more information.
