What would you sacrifice your hair for? How about if your favourite K-Pop star said he’d marry you, provided you shaved your head? Or if you could get a million dollars?

Hair for Hope 2012 DECOR

Well, how about doing it for a much better cause ‒ Hair for Hope 2012, which will provide hope for children with cancer, and letting them know they and their families are not alone in the tough journey. And whenever someone asks you about your freshly-shaven head, you’ll be able to tell them about the cause, thus spreading awareness and helping to raise funds.

This year’s celebrity shavees include chef Emmanuel Stroobant and 22 members from the Emmanuel Stroobant Group, going under the barber’s “knife” for the Children’s Cancer Foundation. You can also donate your locks to Locks of Love if they fit the guidelines of the US-based charity ‒ just bring a zip-lock bag to collect your hair on the day.

And if you think only men would sign up for the cause, think again. The list of shavees include women who have signed up for the task, and already raised lots of money in the process.

However, if going bald is too huge a step to take, don’t worry as you can still contribute financially through online donations or calling 6593 6473.

Hair for Hope 2012 is on July 28, 11am to 7pm, and July 29, 11am to 6pm at VivoCity’s Central Court. Online registration is closed for Hair for Hope 2012, but you can join as a walk-in participant (minimum of $20 donation is required). Log on to www.hairforhope.org.sg for more information.
