|Fernando Torres (Spain)
The 26-year-old Liverpool striker earned himself the nickname El Niño (or The Kid) because of his early start in football. He’s also kept a child-like sense of pride – he was quoted saying that he wants to be “the most important player in Europe and the world”. We like a man with big goals.
Whether he’s running around in his Real Madrid jersey or modelling for Armani, this man always looks good. Despite his busy career on and off the pitch, he manages to be a devoted husband and father too. Also: One-word pseudonyms (his real name is Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite) are very rock-star cool.
|Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal)
The captain of the Portuguese National team has a penchant for ripping his shirt off to celebrate, an offence during game play that has caused him to be sent off of the field. We personally feel that the penalty should be given when his shirt remains on for too long. We tire of the amount of clothing covering your abs too, Cristiano.
|Roque Santa Cruz (Paraguay)
Roque has been plagued by numerous injuries throughout his career, but he’s still popular among the football clubs – and everyone else who’s had a glimpse of him. A German magazine and newspaper each named him the sexiest footballer in the 2006 FIFA World Cup, and this is a pronouncement we certainly agree with.
His looks could probably land him a lead role in a weepy Korean drama, but he’s currently busy being the Lord of the Ring – a nickname lovingly given to him by Korean fans, due to his habit of kissing his wedding ring after each goal he scores.
