It was the poll that opened a floodgate of votes. Sore index fingers were rampant as thousands of you went on a clicking frenzy over the past two weeks; and the leading man changed so frequently that the herworldPLUS team was left constantly guessing who would end up clinching the top spot.
Now the fans have spoken; here are your top 10 sexiest celebs based in Singapore. Welcome 2013 on a high with these guys who are sure to put the “happy” in your Happy New Year.
There are two things that will make any woman’s day: a guy with a ripped body, and a delicious home-cooked meal. So it’d be safe to say that this British-Chinese hunk provides the complete package, seeing how he can deliver on both fronts — as a hot guy who cooks. Watch out for those rippling muscles that will soon be splashed across True Fitness billboards next year. They’re definitely a sight for sore eyes.
We can’t all have our own Shakespearean love story, but this ladies’ man is the closest we’ll ever get to having our very own, well, Romeo. Maybe even better than the original Romeo, because we’re quite certain he didn’t have abs like Tan’s. Last seen in the Mandarin drama Of Love & Hidden Charms, we can’t wait to see what else this hotshot has to offer in the coming year.
He may have fronted countless ad campaigns and landed numerous gigs ranging from actor to DJ in the two years he’s been in Singapore, but you’d be hard-pressed to find a celeb more down-to-earth than this English-Greek adonis. Never mind his gorgeous face and cover-worthy body, his big heart — he partnered skincare brand Kiehl’s to raise awareness and funds for autism — and self-deprecating humour — he claims his success rate with women is very low — only serve to endear him more to us. Oh don’t be modest, George, we should be so lucky to score a date with you.
He may be the youngest on our list at 21, but he gets us hot under the collar like the best of them. From his cheeky grin to his lean physique and even tan (thanks to years of playing rugby), we can see why he’s such a hit with the ladies. What we’d give to wake up to those syrupy vocals every morning and gaze into those earnest twinkly eyes. This is one amazingly sweet cutie we just can’t get enough of.
If rickshaw pullers all looked like Desmond Tan as Luo Xiaoxiao in A Song to Remember, we’d willingly forgo taxis and brave the heat in those man-powered carts instead; you know, just so we get up close and personal with his bulging biceps. Couple those guns with his boy-next-door charm and you get a rising star who’s simply irresistible.
If the way to a woman’s heart is through her funny bone, then this hilarious Class 95 DJ, host, and most recently actor on Random Island, has made himself a very cosy nesting place in our hearts. From declaring his obsession with Rebecca Lim to the nation, to cracking jokes about Sasuke Singapore contestants, there’s never a dull moment when he’s on air or screen. Just the sound of his voice is enough to make us swoon, and speaking of swooning, did you know the guy can rap like a pro?
It’s been a good year for this dishy dad. Not only did he walk away with the Best Entertainment Host trophy for Cash Cab at the Asian Television Awards, his dream of appearing shirtless on the cover of Men’s Health was realised after he embarked on a rigorous fitness regimen that gave him abs we can wash our clothes on. We love his dry Brit humour and dapper sense of style. Then again, what’s there not to love about this stud muffin? We hear he’s starting up a gym in January, so watch this space for more yummy updates.
Acting, singing and cooking? This dreamboat has done it all and on TV! The affable star has won us — and hordes of girls — over with his candid demeanour and boyish good looks. We hear he has plans to further his singing career in the coming year and can’t wait for him to serenade us again. But you know you don’t have to do much else, Nat. We’re already wrapped around your finger.
Brains, looks, a great body and a kind heart; this hottie has the whole package. We’re smitten by his love for poetry — he studied English Literature at the National University of Singapore and sometimes posts thoughtful prose on his blog — and would love nothing more than for him to write us a sonnet. Hey, a girl can dream right? Speaking of girls, the desirable dude has always kept mum on the subject of his relationships. A man of mystery eh? We like.
Flooring the competition with a staggering 40 per cent of the votes, it’s no surprise that this Shanghainese ex-model has quite the female following. After all, who can resist those dreamy eyes and that impish smile set amidst those chiselled features? Winning the hearts of women across the island with his role as the ever-giving Yamamoto Yousuke in The Little Nonya, it’s easy to see why he was voted as one of the Top 8 Most Likeable Male Characters in 2009. Add that to the string of accolades to his name, and you can be sure we’ll be seeing plenty more of this heart throb in the coming year.
