Ever wished there was an application for creating and viewing digital art on your Android device? Well, now “there’s an app for that” since Samsung launched its Masterpieces digital art gallery specially for Singapore’s artists. The application and digital art gallery are optimised for Samsung Note devices and is now available from the Samsung App Store and Google Play.

Masterpieces’ digital art gallery, which is curated by leading regional contemporary art critic Iola Lenzi, has seven collections. Works include those from Singapore contemporary artists and art students, created on the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1.

Student submissions achieved a spot in the gallery after selection by a panel of judges consisting of industry leaders and art practitioners like filmmaker Ho Tzu Nyen, the Esplanade’s Visual Arts programming officer Tamares Goh and The Straits Times arts journalist Deepika Shetty.

Using the application, you too can create your own artistic masterpieces on any topic or upload a digital version of one of your works for editing. Masterpieces works best on a Samsung Galaxy Note device because the stylus gives you more freedom and control when drawing. You can also try your hand at finger-painting on your Samsung device without one!

If you are not an artist but an art lover, scroll through the pieces featured in the digital gallery. Share your love for your favourite works by using the in-app links to Facebook and Twitter. If a piece of art reminds you of a friend, use Masterpieces’ “Dedicate” button to send a message to his or her Facebook wall, which will be accompanied by an image of the art piece itself.

Masterpieces is a fun, new way to connect with friends through art. Even better, you don’t have to leave the comfort of your home to do so. The art gallery has come to your mobile, so grab your Samsung device and make your own masterpiece!

Download the Masterpieces application from Samsung Apps Store or Google Play. If you do not have an Android device, check out Masterpieces online at http://www.masterpiecesart.com.
