From The Straits Times    |

If you have ever wanted to break away from the crowd when running in a mass race, you aren’t alone.

Runners have spoken and Nike has listened – for the first time in Nike Singapore’s race history, runners will have the freedom to “design” their own route. Yes, you will still have to set off at the F1 pit building with the rest of your fellow Nike We Run SG 2013 participants but that’s the only similarity the 10-km race has with other runs.

At three points in the race – 3.2km, 6.5km and 8.5km – runners will have the choice of two routes to take. The 3.2km point will see runners deciding whether they want to Follow the Pack or Go Off the Beaten Path while at the 6.5km mark, you can either Rule the City or Own the Park. Finally, choose to Dance to the Finish or Rock your Run when you pass the 8.5km point – select the type of music you want to accompany you on the final stretch.

Instead of a boring, everyone’s doing it route, runners will be able to explore different terrains and find themselves taking in the cityscape or coming close to nature – what ever takes their fancy. Meaning at the finish line, you would have run a race that’s truly your own.
