g.spa, located at Guillemard Village, is definitely a hidden gem. Its opulent casino-inspired treatments are definitely the perfect indulgence after a long and exhausting work week.

Upon entering the spa, I felt like I was transported to another world. With the rustic décor (soft-lit trees, miniature thatched huts, birdcage lamps) and ambience lighting, I felt relaxed almost immediately.

As I walked through a maze of massage chairs lining the common, I had to almost peel myself away from the temptation of just lounging in one to snooze the afternoon away.

To my pleasant surprise, my therapist told me that with every massage package, all facilities – including the jacuzzi, steam baths, massage chairs and a full-fledged gym – in the spa were free of charge to use after your treatment, not unlike the mega-spas in China and Korea.

I was recommended the High Roller’s Suite ($198 for a 90-minute session) an indulgent treatment having four hands working in tandem to pamper the body in a synchronised, intricate massage, accompanied by an exfoliating marine therapy body scrub to finish.

While it was a little awkward and almost too indulgent to have two therapists working on you, I soon got used to the idea the moment they started to work on my back, which according to them had knots so tight, a sailor would be proud.

As I laid on the massage bed, I thought about what a disaster it would have been if the two therapists weren’t able to coordinate and work well together. Timing is of the essence and while my left shoulder was being worked on, the other therapist timed it so that she would be working on my left calf at the same time.

It worked out perfectly, almost like a well-choreographed dance and it wasn’t long before I felt completely at ease thanks to the long, broad strokes meted out with the pressure of their palm. Award-winning Babor massage oils are also used to nourish and revitalise the body.

Once they were done, using the same luxurious four-hand technique, the therapists used a detoxifying sea salt scrub infused with organic kelp to stimulate blood circulation and flush out daily impurities from the skin. The scrub is also saturated with organic peppermint and eucalyptus oils to instantaneously recharge and invigorate the body.

The treatment left my skin glowing and moisturised to a tee.

And if you thought that this was the end of the treatment, you were clearly mistaken, just like I was.

Besides offering the complete spa experience, g.spa serves up mouth-watering dishes, including local cuisine and international delights, perfect to satisfy that post-treatment hunger, all for free.

I had the Lamb Shank, Rendang and Prawn Noodles all in one sitting. There was even a full menu for you to pick from and you could order as much as you want!

Sounds amazing already? We think it’s just the perfect place to spend an entire girly afternoon with your friends, lounging by the pool, on the massage chairs and chowing down an all-day buffet spread.
