Plot: This annual franchise isn’t exactly known for its stirring and deep plots, but it will please those looking for a happy time at the movies. Eric Tsang-produced and starring some of the biggest names in Hong Kong right now like Bosco Wong, it features four couples in different stages of their relationships.

Plot: Serial monogamist George Clooney just won the Golden Globe for Best Actor for his role as a dad struggling to survive after his wife meets with an accident and is now in a coma. On top that, he finds out she had an affair. He’s also at a loss when dealing with his two daughters, one of which is played by Shailene Woody, who was also nominated at the Golden Globes and has proven to be quite the fashion darling.

Plot: With famed Bollywood director Karan Johar at the helm, who wouldn’t want to star in this project? Well, its own lead actor Hrithik Roshan revealed to The Times of India he “was almost forced to do the movie” because he “didn’t want to do a remake”, and there was the pressure of of Amitabh Bachchan having played the part in the original movie. It all worked out though, and this classic tale of revenge against the evil drug lords has been getting good reviews.

Plot: Vincent Cassel (Ocean’s Twelve, Ocean’s Thirteen, Black Swan) takes on a pretty difficult role as a monk who starts lusting after his pupil, and then falls for another woman. He ends up selling his soul to the devil, who reveals (spoiler alert!) the pupil is actually his sister. Some pretty twisted stuff based on a 1796 gothic novel.

Plot: Kate Beckinsale is one of the hottest superheroines in our opinion and she’s back as the butt-kicking Selene who wakes up from a 12-year coma, finds out she has a daughter and then has to stop the humans from killing both the vampire and werewolves.

Psychoanalysts of the 20th century – Sigmund Freud and his friend/pupil Carl Jung (who were to become sworn enemies) – come back to life on the big screen. Sabina Spelrein (Keira Knightley) is Jung’s mentally unbalanced patient who ends up a source of attraction for both master and disciple.

With the political reforms in Myanmar and Aung San Suu Kyi’s at the forefront of it all, this story is as relevant as ever. Don’t expect a history lesson from this biopic though. It focuses on the enduring love between the activist played by Michelle Yeoh and her late husband, the academic and writer, Michael Aris – played by David Thewlis – who never got to say goodbye to his beloved wife.
