There is nothing really that quite compares a handcrafted gift from the heart, and all the tiny imperfections are what makes it all the more beautiful and perfect. A handmade gift is unique and one of a kind and perhaps that is why crafting workshops are so popular these days.

If you are looking to new to handicraft, consider going to a leather crafts workshop. Leather is a material that epitomises fashion and luxury. Additionally, since leather goods come in all shapes and sizes, from small key fobs to huge leather trunks, it is easy for beginners to pick up the craft.

So, if you are thinking of creating a unique one-of-a-kind leather good or looking for an unconventional date idea, head down to the leather craft workshop conducted by J.Artisans Leather Works that will help you hone your craftsmanship. The company prides itself on providing fun and informative lessons.

Also, they are one of the few companies in Singapore to use vegetable tanned leather (tanned using tannins extracted from vegetable matter) that not only lasts longer compared to other leather types and ages nicely on products but is also easier on the planet because no harmful chemicals like chromium salts are used in the tanning process.

Started in 2012 by leather aficionados Jeremiah See and his fiancée Christina Ng, J.Artisans Leather Works is a boutique brand that specialises in handcrafted leather products. The couple started making and selling handcrafted leather goods as a hobby but decided to do this full time in 2015 when Mont Blanc and other big designer brands like Dior, Chanel, Chopard, Bottega Veneta and Starbucks started engaging their services.

They have a leather craft workshop open to the public where participants will learn how to make small leather goods with the pair. You can choose to make either a card holder (four designs to choose from, prices start from $89) or an ID tag ($89) and all tools and materials will be provided at the class. Bonus: there will also be light refreshments served for all the participants.

In addition to conducting leather craft workshops, J.Artisans also has a brick-and-mortar store and online retail store that sells beautifully stitched and finished leather goods that run the gamut from passport covers to wallets – all of which are made from vegetable-tanned cowhide sourced from a heritage Italian tannery. To add a personal touch to your leather goods, you can also get your initials embossed for free.
