While everyone’s been fixated on the Ah Boys to Firemen auditions, there’s another casting call worth your attention and this one’s for one of Singapore’s biggest franchises.

Mediacorp just announced open auditions for the third instalment of The Little Nyonya, and honestly, if you’ve ever fantasised about being in a hit local drama, this is your chance.

Now, if you didn’t already know, The Little Nyonya isn’t just another drama. The original 2008 series became a cultural touchstone, pulling audiences in with its emotional storytelling and rich portrayal of Peranakan heritage. Then came the spinoff, Emerald Hill – The Little Nyonya Story, which didn’t just match that legacy but it blew up big time on Netflix. We’re talking 2.1 million local viewers and became the first local drama to hit #1 on Netflix Singapore. It also travelled far beyond our shores, streaming across Southeast Asia, Malaysia, China, Taiwan, and even popping up on Singapore Airlines and British Airways in-flight entertainment. So yes, you get it, it’s pretty big of a deal.

The bar for instalment three is high and it’s slated to land in 2028.

The new series is being helmed by Executive Producer Canter Chia, with the script penned once again by Ang Eng Tee, who also wrote both previous Little Nyonya titles. So the team that built this universe is very much still at the helm.

Here’s the part that matters to you: Mediacorp is casting wide, with leading and supporting roles up for grabs. If you’re selected, you’ll get training and support suited to your role and experience level. On top of that, if you really stand out, you could be looked at for an actual Mediacorp contract, plus future projects down the line.

Here are some of the requirements for those who are planning to apply:

  • Any nationality
  • Aged 18 to 35
  • Applications open 25 June to 12 July

What to send to castingenquiries@mediacorp.com.sg:

  • A recent headshot and full-body photo
  • Your name, age, height and contact details
  • An acting resume (if you have one)
  • A video self-introduction in Chinese, under 30 seconds

Shortlisted applicants will be called in for closed-door auditions on 18 and 19 July.

So if you’ve got the range and the willingness to film a 30-second self-intro in Chinese, this is your chance to shine.
