KINN Habitat: A stylish, premium capsule hotel in the heart of Singapore’s CBD 

If the words “capsule hotel” still conjure up images of cramped sleeping pods, lacklustre living spaces, and sacrificing comfort for affordability, chances are you haven’t checked into KINN Habitat.  

Tucked along Hong Kong Street in the heart of Singapore’s CBD, the premium capsule hotel feels unlike other capsule stays I’ve experienced. From the outside, the cream-coloured building catches your eye with lush greenery spilling over its balconies and clean, minimalist architecture. Its earthy tones feel calm—a fitting first impression for a hospitality concept that’s centred around wellness and slowing down. 

KINN has spent the past four years reimagining what budget-friendly hospitality can look like. Alongside KINN Studios and the female-exclusive KINN Capsule, KINN Habitat is the hospitality group’s flagship property, offering premium capsules, private rooms and one of its largest communal spaces. The accommodation sits comfortably between a boutique hotel and a hostel: private enough to recharge, social enough if you’re travelling solo, yet feels luxurious and thoughtfully designed. 

The location doesn’t hurt either. Boat Quay, Chinatown and PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering are all just a short stroll away, while food options are plentiful. Whether you’re grabbing coffee downstairs at the hotel’s own cafe, brwd / KINN, heading to viral favourite POUT Rooftop Cafe, or making dinner reservations at Michelin-starred Willow or Bib Gourmand favourite Un-Yang-Kor-Dai, you’re never far from your next meal. 

The interiors hold the same cosy aesthetic: warm lighting washes over earthy interiors, clean lines soften every corner, and the subtle scent of an expensive hotel lobby lingers in the air. It feels intentionally designed to unwind and recharge rather than simply sleep, making it an ideal stay for solo travellers, digital nomads or anyone craving a restorative weekend staycation without splurging. 

The ‘rooms’

I’ll admit I was slightly apprehensive before crawling into my pod. My previous capsule hotel experiences involved narrow spaces where I could barely turn over without bumping into a wall. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case here.

Each room houses several upper and lower deck capsules, and I checked into one of the upper pods. Climbing in and out requires a little coordination, but the added privacy of sleeping above everyone else was well worth it.

Inside, the pod felt surprisingly roomy. High ceilings prevented it from ever feeling claustrophobic, while warm wood panelling made the space feel cosy. There was enough room to comfortably sit upright, stretch out and unwind before bed. Thoughtful touches, including an extendable mirror and fold-out table, made it easy to read, journal or catch up on work before calling it a night. When it was finally time to sleep, I simply pulled down the blackout blind and disappeared into my own little cocoon.

Even storage had been carefully considered. Each guest gets a generously sized locker located within the room, making it easy to stash luggage without cluttering the sleeping area.

The facilities

If there’s one thing KINN Habitat excels at, it’s proving that shared spaces don’t have to feel... well, shared.

The communal bathrooms are spotless, feeling closer to a boutique hotel’s facilities than a hostel’s. Everything is bright, well-maintained and genuinely pleasant to use—a detail that makes a big difference when you’re sharing amenities with other guests.

The shared lounge quickly became one of my favourite corners of the hotel. Rather than rows of desks, it resembles a stylish living room with cosy seating, warm natural light and a large communal counter at its centre. Complimentary afternoon snacks—small sweet and savoury pastries – are sometimes available that guests could help themselves to. There’s also a sink and filtered water station, 

And if you’re wanting some fresh air, the space opens up to a rooftop terrace dotted with lush greenery and overlooking the surrounding city skyline. It’s the kind of place where it feels easy to settle in for a few hours with a book or laptop or simply enjoy a slower pace for the afternoon.

The food

Even if you aren’t staying overnight, the hotel’s cafe, brwd / KINN, is worth making a detour for. The cafe has built its own following thanks to inventive seasonal drinks, such as their previous Hojicha Milo and Hojicha Coconut creations.

To celebrate KINN’s fourth anniversary, brwd / KINN has launched its Balanced Indulgence menu, available until September 2026. Standouts include the Berry Glowy (S$7.50), a refreshing blend of antioxidant-rich berries and coconut water, as well as the Matcha Rose Glow (S$9.50), which pairs earthy matcha and oat milk with a delicate berry-rose tofu cloud. Created in collaboration with local supplement brand Moom, the drinks incorporate Glow Guard—a blend formulated with hyaluronic acid, ceramides and antioxidants to support hydration and skin health.

Equally tempting is returning favourite Sunkissed Brew (S$7.50), an unexpectedly refreshing combination of freshly squeezed orange juice, honey and espresso as well as their new offering, Strawberry Tofu Crunch (S$7.50), featuring blended creamy silken tofu with strawberry jam and topped with granola. 

The verdict

KINN Habitat challenged what I thought a capsule stay had to be. Between the beautifully clean designed interiors, thoughtfully planned communal spaces and genuinely comfortable pods, I felt properly pampered over the weekend. Whether you’re a solo traveller, planning a quick staycation or simply curious about capsule hotels without wanting to compromise on comfort, KINN Habitat makes a compelling case for giving pod living a try.
