Parenting teenagers feels like walking a high wire — balancing guidance with independence, closeness with trust. As the mother of newly minted teen twins, I’ve learned that letting go doesn’t mean disconnecting. Yet in a world dominated by screens, social feeds, and endless scrolling, real connection can feel elusive. This year, rather than another resort with poolside distractions, I sought a retreat that would slow us down, restore balance, and — hopefully — bring us closer.

That search led us to RXV Wellness Village, a newly opened haven about an hour south of Bangkok. Spread across 50 leafy acres on the banks of the Tha Chin River, the retreat is a serene blend of Thai tradition and modern wellness — an antidote to the digital din. The concept was born from the success of RAKxa Wellness, an adults-only destination known for its integrative medical approach. When guests began asking for a family-friendly version, RXV was created — a sanctuary for every generation to reset together.

A New Kind of Family Wellness

From the moment we arrived, it was clear that RXV isn’t about bootcamp-style detoxes or silent meditation marathons. Instead, it takes a gentler, holistic approach — pairing science-backed therapies with mindful living. Within the resort’s wellness centre are high-tech diagnostics like 3D body scans and posture analyses, alongside traditional treatments such as acupuncture, shirodhara, and cryosauna for muscle recovery. Yet the real innovation lies in RXV’s Personalised Teen Wellness Programme, created to meet the unique challenges of today’s youth.

Whether it’s relief from exam stress, better sleep, hormonal balance, or emotional grounding, each programme is designed to restore focus and resilience.

Tailored Therapies for a Digital Generation

For teens whose lives are lit by blue light, RXV’s therapies feel like a sensory reset. There are botanical aroma massages to soothe overstimulated minds, Thai nutrient and scalp treatments to ease tension, and sound-healing sessions that use crystal vibrations to calm the nervous system. Movement classes — from Tai Chi and Pilates to neuromuscular activation — help improve posture and mental clarity dulled by hours spent online.

For girls, hormone-supporting rituals like the Lady Health Therapy and Rose Crystal Facial offer gentle care during times of change, while Gut-Brain Balancing treatments strengthen the connection between digestion, mood, and cognition.

But RXV’s approach extends beyond the treatment rooms. The retreat’s Thai arts and crafts programme introduces mindfulness through creativity — in mandala painting, clay sculpting, and flower mandala workshops that teach patience, focus, and the art of being present.

My twins particularly loved the Mandala crystal art session, where colour and geometry somehow sparked conversations about personality and perspective — something that rarely happens between siblings glued to separate screens.

The Power of Shared Stillness

It’s wellness as reconnection, not routine — space to talk without pressure, to listen without distraction.

RXV understands that teen well-being doesn’t exist in isolation; it’s woven into the family dynamic. The retreat encourages parents and teens to take part in shared rituals — side-by-side aromatherapy foot soaks, mindful cooking sessions, and forest walks that allow for unguarded conversation. It’s wellness as reconnection, not routine — space to talk without pressure, to listen without distraction.

A Feast for the Senses

Meals at RXV Wellness Village are a revelation. Under the creative direction of Chef Bansani Nawisamphan — known as Chef Ban — dining becomes a celebration of colour, flavour, and Thai abundance, with dishes that nourish the body as much as they delight the eye. Widely applauded for his “healthy yet soulful” cuisine, Chef Ban brings a playful, vibrant energy to wellness dining, transforming it from something functional into something joyful.

One morning, we were invited into his kitchen for a private cooking class — a highlight of our stay. Chef Ban, with his calm precision and radiant smile, showed us how to cook simply but healthily, transforming humble local ingredients into something vibrant and restorative. To my surprise, my son polished off an entire bowl of grilled fish with quinoa and greens — a small culinary victory that’s now inspired a weekly quinoa ritual at home.

Chef Ban’s philosophy of “rainbow cooking” guides every plate that leaves his kitchen. Think fragrant Tom Kha soup enriched with galangal and coconut, spicy pomelo salad tossed with herbs and chilli, and river prawns in tamarind glaze, gleaming with freshness. Despite its wellness credentials, the food here never feels austere — seconds are encouraged, coffee and desserts are plentiful, and yes, there’s wine for the parents. RXV’s mantra is simple yet subversive: wellness should feel good, not restrictive.

Beyond the Retreat

When the weekend arrives, guests are invited to step beyond RXV’s gates to explore Suan Sampran’s organic farmers’ market, where locals dressed in indigo sell fresh vegetables, herbal teas, and coconut pancakes. There are workshops for tie-dyeing, herbal toothpaste-making, and rice scrub blending — tactile, grounding experiences that remind us of simpler joys.

For the curious, nearby landmarks like the Wat Samphran Dragon Temple and Wat Rai Khing offer bursts of culture and colour. RXV can even arrange guided tours with Chef Ban himself, who leads guests through the market before a hands-on cooking class back at the resort.

As Piyarat Tanjaputkul, Executive Vice President of Health & Wellness at RXV, explains:

“Today’s teens face a quieter kind of strain — one that doesn’t always show until well-being is compromised. RXV gives them space to pause, reset, and leave with tools for resilience in a fast-paced, hyperconnected world.”

And perhaps that’s RXV’s greatest gift — it teaches not just relaxation, but reflection. It reminds families how to be together again, how to listen, how to breathe.

By the time we left, I realised our holiday hadn’t been about spa days or yoga poses, but about rediscovering connection — between parent and child, mind and body, self and silence. In a world that demands constant motion, RXV Wellness Village offers something quietly radical: permission to simply stop.

Oh and yes, we are already planning our next visit.
