South Korean television dramas have provided us with countless hours of entertainment. One reason why we keep coming back, besides the gripping plotlines, is for the chemistry between the main stars of the series. Occasionally, we fall in love with the mutual affection expressed between the main characters that we want them to end up together, whether it is in the show or in real life. And so it delights us greatly when the couple in the K-drama gets into an actual relationship. Ahead are 10 of such K-drama couples that ended up dating, from Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin to Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo.

Rocky and Park Bo-yeon

In October 2022, (former) Astro member Rocky confirmed that he was dating Park Bo-yeon. They met initially while working on the web drama Find Me If You Can (2021). It was also discovered that Park Bo-yeon had attended The Three Musketeers musical that he was starring in and had also co-wrote the lyrics and did the narration for his solo track S#1. The couple is likely still together as there haven't been any public updates on the status.

Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin

On January 1, 2021, the South Korean tabloid publication Dispatch threw fans into a frenzy after revealing that Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin had been dating since March 2020.

The two had first worked together on the 2019 action crime thriller The Negotiation but sparks only flew after they worked together on the hit series Crash Landing On You (2019-2020). In the series, Son Ye-jin played CEO and chaebol heiress Yoon Se-ri who had inadvertently landed in North Korea and met army captain Ri Jeong-hyeok.

In February 2020, the couple announced that they were getting engaged and got married a month later. Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin then added a son to the family in November of the same year.

Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo

Also known as the Song-Song couple, Song Joong-ki and Song Kye-kyo met on the set of Descendants of the Sun (2016). In the series, he played the amiable army captain Yoo Si-jin while she was the assertive cardiothoracic surgeon Kang Mo-yeon.

After multiple public spottings together, the duo finally put rumours to rest when they announced their engagement in July 2017. The wedding was later held at the end of October 2017. Happiness didn't last long though. The couple cited irreconcilable differences and finalised the divorce in July 2019.

Now, Song Joong-ki is married to British actress Katy Louise Saunders and the two welcomed a son in June 2023. Song Hye-kyo, on the other hand, is single.

Nam Joo-hyuk and Lee Sung-kyung

Another 2016 television drama that found many fans was Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo. The series starred Lee Sung-kyung as the namesake character and Nam Joo-hyuk as Jung Joon-hyung. The friendship between the duo went back further in time as they were both under the same agency once. And after the drama aired, public sightings fuelled rumours of romance.

In April 2017, their agency confirmed that the two were seeing each other. Four months later, they revealed that the relationship had ceased to exist.

Both Nam Joo-hyuk and Lee Sung-kyung are reportedly still single. However, rumours surfaced in 2022 that questioned the possibility of sparks rekindling.

Lee Joon and Jung So-min

The 2017 family drama My Father Is Strange brought Lee Joon and Jung So-min together. The couple started seeing each other in October 2017 and went official in January 2018. In June 2020, the couple announced that they had broken up, citing busy schedules that led to them growing apart.

Lee Joon-gi and Jeon Hye-bin

Lee Joon-gi and Jeon Hye-bin met on the set of Gunman in Joseon (2014) where he played Park Yoon-kang Hasegawa Hanjo and her as Choi Hye-won. The pair then started dating in 2016 and confirmed the relationship publicly in April 2017. It was short-lived, unfortunately, as the couple broke up in August of the same year. They cited busy schedules as the cause of the breakdown.

Lee Sang-woo and Kim So-yeon

Lee Sang-woo and Kim So-yeon fell quickly in love with each other. The two worked on Happy Home (2016) together as a couple and went public shortly - a month after the drama had ended in fact. The happy couple got married a year later in a private ceremony and remains together to date.

Ryu Jun-yeol and Hyeri

Ryu Jun-yeol and Hyeri played two of the five main characters in the popular series Reply 1988 (2015-2016), Sung Deok-sun and Kim Jung-hwan. Because of the chemistry shown by the two stars, many fans wanted the two to end up together. Lo and behold, the couple disclosed in August 2017 that the two got into a relationship sometime around the end of 2016. Ryu Jun-yeol and Hyeri are said to still be together and remain private about their relationship.

Lee Min-ho and Park Min-young

City Hunter was a popular action thriller series when it aired in 2011. Both Lee Min-ho and Park Min-young starred as the main characters - Lee Yoon-sung and Kim Na-na respectively. So fans were overjoyed when the pair went public with their relationship shortly after working together. Likely due to the rise in popularity that kept their schedules packed, the two went their separate ways months later.

Ji Sung and Lee Bo-young

Ji Sung and Lee Bo-young met on the set of Save The Last Dance For Me (2005).  The two confirmed their relationship two years later and got married in 2013. They have since had two children together - daughter Kwak Ji-yoo and son Kwak Woo-sung. In September 2023, the couple celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary.
