Here’s why Jisoo skipped out on Blackpink’s Osaka concert
The remaining members had really creative ways of including her in the performances
Blackpink took to the stage for their Born Pink World Tour without the presence of Jisoo, who is currently battling COVID-19. The 28-year-old artist tested positive on June 1, after displaying mild cold symptoms earlier last week, which caused her to miss the two concerts held at Kyocera Dome Osaka over the weekend.
"Jisoo showed a strong will to perform for the tour to keep her promise to fans who have been waiting for a long time. But inevitably, we have decided it would be best for her not to participate in the performance for the safety of everyone as well as the artist's health," YG Entertainment said in a statement.
However, Jisoo's absence did not dampen the spirits of the remaining trio, Jennie, Rose, and Lisa, as they found inventive ways to include her in the performance. During certain songs, they held up their microphones for Jisoo's parts and Lisa even carried a plush doll symbolising Jisoo throughout the show.
The concert even retained a segment intended for Jisoo's solo performance, replacing it with a video clip of her dancing to her solo hit, "Flower." The trio also posed for photos around an imaginary Jisoo, leaving a space for her and mimicking interactions with her through hand gestures.
While Jisoo's presence was missed, the trio delivered electrifying performances, captivating the audience with their infectious energy. As the Born Pink World Tour continues, fans remain hopeful for Jisoo's swift recovery and eagerly await her return to the stage alongside Jennie, Rose, and Lisa. Their next stop will be at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on June 10 and 11.
