With hits like “You give me something”, “The Pieces Don’t Fit Anymore” and “Broken Strings” featuring Nelly Furtado, James Morrison is definitely no stranger on our iTunes playlist.

And thankfully for us, the singer with the soulful, raspy voice is set to perform here in October at the Esplanade concert hall.

His “The Awakening” tour is named after his third album, which is a clear indication that Morrison has matured as a singer, songwriter and musician.

The 26-year-old has battled a fair bit in his personal life, having just lost his father who battled with alcoholism and depression, and becoming a father himself. He channelled all of that emotion into his new album, calling it his most accomplished collection of songs to date.

“My first two albums felt like practice shots,” Morrison says, “and now I’ve graduated. In many ways this feels like my first proper album.”

With sold-out tours from America to Australia, from Japan to all across Europe; having performed on Jimmy Kimmel and Jay Leno, singing in front of tens of thousands at London’s Hyde Park supporting Bruce Springsteen and Stevie Wonder, he is definitely a performer to be reckoned with.

If you don’t want to miss out on a night of wonderful music filled with raw emotion by this talented singer songwriter, be sure to get your tickets now.
