After a year-long hiatus and $36 million overhaul, the cable cars running from Mount Faber to Sentosa Island emerged with a brand new look in July 2010.

New features include larger eight-seaters to accommodate the increase in visitors to Resorts World Sentosa, an eight-language interactive touch-screen infotainment system on a 12.1-inch screen and a wheelchair and pram-friendly interior.

The interior and exterior of each cabin is illuminated by LED lights, hence the name.

A more luxurious experience awaits big spenders – the world’s first 7-star VIP Jewelled Cabin was launched too. A Crystal Panel glass floor, comfortable leather upholstered chairs with Black Crystal, a ceiling Crystal Panel, all by Swarovski, make it one giant jewel box in the sky. Perfect for romantic occasions.

The new cable cars will be feted at an official launch on October 15, with a gala dinner, performances by local jazz veterans Clarissa and Jeremy Monteiro and the presence of Mr S Iswaran, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Trade and Industry and Ministry of Education.

The 13-minute ride from Mount Faber to Sentosa Island will cost you $24 for a one-way adult ticket and $26 for a return adult ticket. The VIP Cabin costs $888 for four people, including a bottle of champagne. All come with admission to Sentosa Island.
Opening hours: 8.30am-10pm, which may be extended during festive periods. For more information, log on to
