One of the key events in the Singaporean high society calendar, the Icon Ball promises glitz, glamour and proximity to power every year.

This year's edition, held at the Shangri-La, was no different. With the theme of "Be Iconic, Dare to Stand Out", the event also heralded Icon's 19th anniversary as a local Chinese language luxury lifestyle magazine. Here are some of the esteemed power women who showed up at this year's gala.

Amanda Toh-Steckler

The co-founder of the Steckler Charitable Fund, which has funded programmes at University of California, Irvine and is bringing the inclusive Magical Bridge Playground to the National Museum, Singapore. She also brought Killiney Kopitiam to the USA.

June Goh

A champion of women's advocacy, Dr June Goh has been the immediate past President of the Singapore Council of Women’s Organisations (SCWO) and the ASEAN Confederation of Women’s Organisations (ACWO). She juggled those roles with her day job as the Director of Neuroanaesthesia and Neurocritical Care at Singapore General Hospital.

Joy Tan

Joy Tan is the Chair of the Singapore Theatre Company, and the co-Head of the Commercial & Corporate Disputes Practice, the Corporate Governance & Compliance Practice and the Financial Services Regulatory Practice at WongPartnership – one of the big 4 firms in Singapore.

Jin Lu

Formerly Executive Director at Golden Meditech, Jin Lu serves on the Board of Directors of the Singapore Theatre Company and is an active fundraiser for a range of women’s organisations.

Angela Sim and Lynn Yeo

The pair left their jobs as investment bankers at HSBC to become the co-founders of Cloversoft, which produces environmentally-friendly bamboo toilet paper.

Ho Ching Lin

The former President of the Association of Women Doctors Singapore, Ho Ching Lin is Senior Consultant at the Singapore National Eye Centre, and the Chairwoman of The Eye Ball, she initiated the VisionSave campaign in 2016 to provide financial assistance to those requiring treatment.

Kris Tan

Kris Tan founded the Kris Foundation, a private foundation aiming to empower young musicians in Singapore and the region. She received the 2019 NAC Distinguished Patron of the Arts award.

Grace Chong-Tan

The co-Founder and Managing Director of Smile Inc. Dental Surgeons, Grace Chong-Tan also dabbles in hospitality as the joint-owner of J-Sekka, a cosy apartment resort in Niseko, Japan.

James Quan and Winnie Chan

Winnie’s grandfather established a bookbinding workshop, which became the bookbinding company Grandluxe. Winnie Chan follows in his footsteps, founding the paper and leather craft brand Bynd Artisan with her husband, James.

Eu Yan Sang scion Rebecca Eu founded Mei’s Own – a small social enterprise project housed in the Philippines that aims to support survivors of human sex trafficking, as well as artisans.

Sam Chua, the owner of Japanese Wagyu shabu-shabu restaurant Black Cow and coffee bar Waga Waga Den, is also the owner of a very stylish Instagram account where she shows off her tailored fits.
